Meeting Ray McLeod Simon Stride in the original Broadway cast of "Jekyll and Hyde" and Juan Peron in the 1999 National tour of "Evita" Merrill and I first met Ray in New York City when we were there for the first anniversary of "Jekyll & Hyde" on Broadway. It was at a Robert Cuccioli Fan Club dinner. We sat with Ray, Pam Ralph and Traci Boles, and Merrill took this picture of Pam and Ray there. Note: Pam and I had been long-time friends on the Michael Ball list as well as the J&H list. There is almost always a connection to Michael. See the "Scarlet Pimpernel" section for more about that! Pam Ralph and Ray McLeod - at Sammy's, NYC - April, 1998 Ray has a marvelous baritone voice which you can hear on his first CD: "Jaramillo - Until Then."
Mother's Day, May 9, 1999 Paramount Theatre, Seattle, Washington
We next saw Ray when "Evita" came to Seattle, and, not surprisingly, he was wonderful! After the show, we stopped by the stage door to say "hello." When Ray came out, he pointed at us and said "I know you from someplace" and then remembered it had been at Sammy's over a year earlier! That was pretty impressive to be sure! He also asked Merrill to take two photos, just to be sure we got at least one good one. (Incidentally, they both turned out great!)
Watch for Ray in future roles!
