We both loved Joey Mahowald! I was so surprised to see his picture and read that he was a featured singer in the "Sondheim Tonight" album that Michael also sings on!
Joey Mahowald, July 1999, Jekyll and Hyde, Plymouth Theatre, NYC It's a wonder that I ever got these pictures, because after *very nicely and very patiently* waiting for my turn to say "Hi" to Joey, and get my program autographed...and just as Merrill was going to take a picture - over the heads of an enormous crowd, I could see him waving frantically and pointing to the camera...indicating that there was no more film! Not to be outdone at a time like this, I asked Joey to hang on just a minute longer...managed to get around the crowd to Merrill...grabbed the camera and a role of film (he is not that familiar with my simple little camera, having a wonderfully complicated one of his own) and as I again circled the crowd, I managed to get the film in - and got a huge grin from Joey - and some great comments, which unfortunately I have now forgotten. However, suffice it to say it was fun, I got to meet his gorgeous wife, and I think it gave him a moment of fun too. By then, Merrill had gotten around to my side of the crowd, and took the photo of Joey 'n me. (You'll have to click on the picture to see it full size!)
