Fiberglass Body Mods

Here is "Pyro" before the rebuild, body was in good condition but the rest of jeep was beat. The body is made up of fiberglass tub and fenders with the grill, hood, dash and windsheild frame made of steel. The steel dash is used to better ground the elec. system. The steel windsheild is used for its resistance to flexing which is one of the problems for 'glass frames. Heat and fire is the reason for the steel hood and grill. Also steel heat sheilds are added between the exhaust system and 'glass tub. So let the fun begin ...............

NOW THAT'S BETTER

"PYRO II"

Here you can see where the fenders have been cut. The front fender flairs where removed and the fender opening was cut higher and farther to the rear. Then the flairs where installed at this cut line. The wheelwell was also remove and reinstalled 2" to the rear. This was done for tire clearance due to the shackle reverse, now the tire hits nothing while under compression.

Flush mounted taillights, see where I located the right taillight in the hole for the gas filler then moved the filler higher above the light. One reason I did this is It keeps the fuel from sloshing out. The other reason is the oversized gas tank is 3 inch higher, I've never like how the oversized tanks hang down lower then the stock tanks, so I cut the rear floor and raised the floor 3". The bottom of the tank is still at the original height. Rear quarter panel lights where added above the marker lights and connected to the reverse lights. They work good for lighting the area to the sides of the Jeep. The rocker skids are made of 3"x4" angle iron. Before installing the angle iron I cut 2" off the rocker panel for a little more room to rock.
