CEMETERY SURVEY for Teague Relations

Teague / Williamson and Relations
Cemetery Survey by Bruce and Gene Teague
October 20, 2001

This is not a complete survey, but includes those that are related or suspected relations.  They are not in the order of arrangement in the cemetery, but I tried to line up by b/d for ease of family association.  The cemeteries are in order of the route we took.  If the names were on the same stone, I listed them together-no lines between.  I also included last names even if the stone did not for individuals.  Items in parenthesis are my notes.

Wilson Cemetery, Lewisville, Lafayette Co, AR
Straight to Flagpole, turn right about 40yds
(James) Alfred Teague       Feb 12, 1885          Nov 19, 1952  (Son of Nathaniel 2, Rhubert's father)

State Line Missionary Baptist Church, State Line, Lafayette Co, AR
On 160, on left, just before crossing Lake Erlin and LA border.  State Line is either in the midst of, or borders land owned by the Teagues in the late 1800's.  Hwy 160 certainly runs through what would have been their land.

Leave State Line, AR, on 160 south, about 1 mile to Shiloh Rd (Shylo? No sign.).  Turn right.  About 2 miles to intersection of Shiloh and Oglee Rd.  Turn left.  Less than one mile, road on left, Teague Lake Road.  Follow dirt road about half a mile.  On right look for cattle guard with bullet ridden white metal sign, “Old State Line Cemetery”.  The cemetery is unused now, and most tombstones are missing-possibly covered by grass.

Ruffie William Caswell         Jan 20, 1886         Oct 7, 1942  (Wife of Samuel?)

(Incredibly, the above two are on the same stone.  I can only speculate that “Ruffie” is Samuel's wife, and that “William” should be Williams and is her maiden name.  Then again, there was a boy named Sue.)

Macedonia Baptist Cemetery, Columbia Co, AR
On Hwy 160 half way between Taylor and Magnolia.  Was looking for Isham Caswell, John R's father in Barges Chapel Cemetery, but never found it.  Macedonia appears to be where I thought Barges was supposed to be.  Barges still could be another more hidden place nearby.
