The basics of the above info was written by family members in August of 1941, at "the old home place of William James Eubanks," in Alabama, embellished and corrected in places by research I've done since then.

I have kept the name "Cantiberry" as spelled by the family, however we stiil need to do more work with other versions such as Canterberry--which is popular in Alabama.  I know there's lot's more good info on EUBANKS, but I just haven't gotten to it yet.  The family written version spelled Christian McCloud as "Christine", but other records indicate it was Christian.

Dr. Ben Cantiberry

Supposedly, Ben Cantiberry was a doctor--such as they were in those days--as we see from the family written explanation:

"Ben cantiberry was a medical Dr.  Every fall he would have his [whiskey] barrels filled with fresh whiskey, and gather herbes from the woods, and put them into the whiskey for his [medicine].  He was also known for his preaching of the [gospel], for his erect posture, and his beautiful hair which reached on top, and at eighty years of age without a gray hair."

OK, I feel no pressure.
