BREEDING PROGRAM

We are often asked what we look for in a bloodhound and what we breed for. Our philosophy about breeding is the same one Jim used with his coonhound kennels: A well-structured dog is one that can win in a show ring and still work all day long in the field.

Our program revolves around sound structure and a natural, graceful movement. We work to achieve strong fronts and well-angulated, solid rear assemblies. A bloodhound with a proportioned frame and a flowing gait will almost always gets a GOOD look in the show ring.

We believe that a careful, thoughtful breeding will produce a bloodhound capable of beating both of its own parents. Ideally, this is what we hope to achieve. At 2 years old, CH Rebellions Don't Cry Daddy, "Baby," a bitch from our first litter beat her mother, Misty to win Best of Breed (her father, CH. Atbay's Be-Happy, "Bones," retired a two-time Best in Show champion). At 18 months old, Rebellion’s Go Your Own Way, “Winston”, a dog from our first Baby-Rebel Litter defeated his sire, “Rebel”, for the first time to win Best of Breed.

We would eventually like to bring a bit more type and more lip into our lines, but for now, our emphasis is on producing a well-balanced, structurally sound bloodhound with a great personality and a sweet temperament.
