THE MISTY-BONES LITTERS
In early 1993 we began our search for the right dog to breed Misty to. We wanted a dog who would emphasize her strengths and improve on her weaknesses. The dog needed to complement her size and have particularly powerful chest to compensate for Misty's weakness in the front (she had a bad pastern and her right front leg toed out). We also wanted to straighten out and improve on Misty's hips.
Over the next year, we met some wonderful people and saw some of the most gorgeous boys around, but none of them had the exact traits we were looking for -- although we had plenty of fun meeting other breeders and talking hounds!
Our search ended in January 1994 with Ch. AtBay's Be-Happy, better known as Bones. Misty came into season in February, and our first litter was born in April of 1994. Bones was not only a beautiful animal, he was a terrific sire producing wonderful offspring. We knew we had achieved our objectives and hopes with that litter, named after Elvis songs. The pairing had been so successful the first time that we elected to do a second breeding. That litter was named after ZZ Top songs.
