ETHICS OF MAGIC

This is one of my favorite paintings. A man is being Knighted. A noble, a gentleman, someone for whom people had the highest regard. Chivalry. The reason why I chose this painting is simple. A knight had a lot of responsibilities to go with his status. He was a servant to the people and a protector to his leige. He was meant to lead whilst never abusing his power. As were they, so should anyone considering the use of magic.

Magic isn't a game. You should never wake up in the morning deciding that it might be fun to cast a spell and start flipping through a book for something that looks fun. This is real life and magic is something real that you can perform. Like everything else in life, your actions have consequences for better or for worse. Good or bad. When you perform magic, you are changing something. Your conciousness, health, another person will or wellbeing, or even the environment. Whats to come isn't always apparent. With this in mind I sudgest you considder the actions for a long time before you do anything. In thinking about it you may realize that you don't need to cast a spell to do what you wanted in the first place. If you can acheive what you want without the use of magic, do so.

Now not to deter you from ever performing magic, but I must say that some nasty things can happen as a result. I believe you've met my friend, Karma. Well this can mean a turn for some events which can ruin your day. You might considder wether or not you would want to have such a spell performed on you. After all, some things just aren't your problem in the first place. Is it your right to change circumstances. In this case I am talking mostly about the idea of casting a spell on someone else. It can be very tempting at times. But I must tell you, even spells that sound like they could only do good can indeed hurt people. The classic in this case is a "Love Spell". Believe me, you can successfuly cast this spell on someone to hurt them as well as help. Magic isn't always inherently good or evil, it is the intent of which the spell is cast. My last note on this subject is simply, be careful what you ask for.
