From the Director:

The Sunday and Friday rides are meant to be just a way for the members to get together and have a good time. These are not planned rides or meant to be led by chapter officers. Who ever shows up, those are the ones who make the decision as to where the ride will go. There will not always be an officer at each ride because of other commitments in our lives just like all of you. I will try and make as many rides as I can and I would welcome any suggestions on destinations or restaurants/bars that you as members would think would be a good place for use to go. I'm not asking you to plan or lead the ride if you don't want to; just some suggestions and addresses so we can maybe get someone to lead them.

On May 20th we had our first Sunday morning ride. We had a total of 22 people and 19 bikes on the ride to Pymatuming. We lef the shop at 10:40 A.M. It was a great day for a ride, a little bit on the cool side, but not too bad overall. We stopped at Pymatuming Lake to check out the fish and take a group photo. Then it was on to Andover, OH for a fuel stop and ice cream at the Dairy Queen. We then went south alon the Ohio/PA border, got back on Route 422 and headed back to the shop. All together it was about a 135 mile ride, which was a good tune-up ride to the season. If you missed this ride, be sure not to miss the next one, who knows where we will go or what we will do.

These Sunday/Friday rides were something we got a lot of responses on the surveys that we sent out. So now, the chapter members don't have to complain, "We don't have any rides, or anywhere to go." Let's all try to make this work.

West Penn Summer Picnic CHANGES!!

West Penn HOG's 2001 Summer Picnic is planned for Saturday, August 25th, at the Evans City Sportsman's Club in Harmony.

Camping will be available, along with the bike games, picnic games, food and refreshments. Anyone interested in volunteering to run the bike games, picnic games or lead the ride from the Harley Store, please contact Rick. His number and address is listed in the newsletter. Also, we need door prizes. If anyone can get shirts, hats, mugs, or whatever from thier employers, friends, local bars, or restaurants, please bring them to a meeting and give them to Rick or Terri. The more we collect the more we can offset the cost of the picnic. It's not too early to start collecting. Check future newsletters or West Penn's website for more details, as they develop. A map and registration form is enclosed. Please RSVP as soon as possible so that we can make appropriate plans.

The top 10 reasons to come to the West Penn HOG Summer Picnic

10) To come and hang out with the rest of your                              chapter.

9) For the food and refreshments

8) The "GAMES"

7) To win some cheap door prizes

6) To see if you can still get it up!! (Your tent                            that is.)

5) Sit around an old fashioned campfire telling                             stories.

4) To prove to yourself that you can still hang                   with the late night crowd.

3) Because I've never been to one before and I                    might have a good time.

2) Because you always wanted to spend the                night with a bunch of bikers.

1)You'll never have this much fun anywhere else

See you there!!!

Camp Spencer Horse Program

The Monday night horse program has begun at Camp Spencer. For the past few years West Penn Chapter Members have been donating their summer Monday Nights to Uncle Harry and the disabled campers at Camp Kon-O-Kwee/ Spencer. We meet at the Barn at Camp Spencer between 6:30 & 7:00 PM to lead the campers around on the horses, beginning at 7:00 PM. No experience is required, we just need helpers to assist in getting the riders on and off the horses and guiding them around for the ride.

Come and join us every Monday through August 6th.

Answers to the safety questions:
