SO00494_.wmf (10930 bytes)Congratulations to Jerry and Sharon on their March 3rd wedding. Best Wishes to you both!

BS00869_.wmf (3192 bytes)Congratulations!!

Feb. 3-5th, Mark  (who just happens to be my husband...) decided to enter his bike in the 43rd Annual World of Wheels at the David Lawrence Convention Center. Most people that attended the show thought that no matter how things went for Mark, he had alread won a pretty good prize because he was set up for three days almost inside the changing area of the Texas Bikini Team!! Aside from that kind of luck, he also came home the proud winner of the Best of Class in the show.

Good Job!!

Director's Note:

It's time to renew your chapter memberships.  Your signed membership form and payment of $10.00 is due back to us by the March 4th meeting. Please try and have them returned as soon as possible. You can bring them to the next meeting or drop them off at New Castle H-D.

If we don't have your form by the end of March you will NOT receive the next newsletter or be able to participate in chapter events.

The following is a portion of an article that was in the winter issure of H.O.G.'s Chapter Officer Newsletter written by Paul Raap- Regional Manager. It will give you some information on H.O.G's membership policies.

"If someone is a spouse or a member, they could be a guest for about the first three times, then why not ask them point blank if they're going to join? If the answer is no, then perhaps they should not be coming to the chapter events any more.

What it boils down to is this:

National H.O.G. membership brings with it certain privileges and opportunites not available to non-members. National membership dues help to underwrite the cost of programs designed to make chapters more enjoyable.

If someone doesn't want to be part of the National H.O.G. organization, why should they receive the benefits of being a H.O.G. member?

Signing up chapter members who are not national H.O.G. members is a violation of the Annual Charter and if the situation is not corrected, could result in the Chapter's Annual Charter not being approved.

It is not the responsibility of the chapter to track down a person's H.O.G. membership information; it is the responsibility of the person applying to be a chapter member to provide proof of national H.O.G. membership."~ Paul Rapp, Regional Manager

If anyone has any questions or comments on this policy, please feel welcome to contact me.

Also, in the past few years membership cards have fallen to the wayside. This year, after all new 2001 memberships are received by the March 4th deadline, we will mail all members new West Penn Chapter cards in the April Newsletter. There will be times throughout the year that you will be asked to present these cards as proof of membership to certain activities - so please keep your card handy when attending or signing up for chapter functions. ~ Wayne

On early spring rides, watch out for loose gravel and unexpected potholes.

Thought For The Month:

Why doesn't Tarzan have a beard?

Why is it called lipstick if you can still move your lips?

Why is the third hand on the watch called the second hand?

Can you buy an entire chess set in a pawn shop?

How do you write zero in Roman numerals?

If you jog backward, will you gain weight?

Why is the time of day with the slowest traffic called rush hour?

Activities Director Note:

To all the members of West Penn HOG, whether you are a novice or seasoned rider, new or charter member, young or not so young - we need your help.

The 2001 riding season is just around the corner and in order to help us better prepare for the upcoming summer events, we need your input.

I am asking every member to please take a few minutes out of your busy schedule to answer the survey enclosed in this newsletter. This will help us in figuring out what you and other members have a common interest in. Note that there are two tickets enclosed on the survey. Please return one half with the survey and keep the other half. This will automatically enter you to win a $25.00 gift certificate from New Castle Harley Davidson.

Please mail the completed survey to me or bring it to the March meeting.

The winning ticket will be drawn at the April meeting. The winner need not be present but it would be nice to see you at the meeting. The winning number will be posted at the Harley Store and published in the following newsletter. If you wish  to remain anonymous, do not include your return address on the envelope.

Thank you for your cooperation and we will look forward to seeing you throughout the riding season.

Thanks again ~ Rick

BETTER HURRY...

Only 2 More Newsletters left... If you are currently advertising you could loose your space. RENEW NOW, the May newsletters will have the new subscriber ads.

Currently, we have about 320 members that pay $10 in dues, which generates $3,200. When you consider the annual cost of approximately $3,700 in newsletter expenses, by doing the math, you can understand why our adverstisers are so important. Advertising serves a dual purpose, by helping to pay for the costs of this newsletter and gets your company advertised for a fraction of what it would cost for commercial advertising. If you or any one you know, needs or wants to advertise in our newsletter, please contact any of the officers with the business card or any other details and we will be sure to include it in our 300+ mailing list. New 6 mo. and 1 year terms begin in May.

Pricing as follows:

6 months for $50

1 year for $85.
