Snowshoe Freedom Fest Motorcycle Rally

LOH Officer, Chrissy, organized a ride to the Snowshoe Freedom Fest, Wednesday through Sunday, July 18-22.

She reports that 8 HOG members attended and they all had a great time doing lots of riding through the scenic mountains and winding roads.

Although many of the vendors were rained out this year, many more will are anticipated to be there next year. Hopefully, more chapter members will also be able to make this event next year.

Horse Program at Camp Spencer

A big THANK YOU! to everyone that helped with the Horse Program at Camp Spencer. It was very nice to see new members along with the Old Faithful regulars show up every week from June 25th thru July 30th. I think everyone will agree it was a huge success. I can't say who enjoyed themselves more - the campers or the West Penn HOG members who helped. I hope everyone will join me next year! Thanks again.... Terri

P.S. - Jim & Jerry have offered to lead another project at Camp for September. They are volunteering us to work on the barn. Watch the newsletter for details or let me know if you want to help and I will call you with the details when they are available. Also September 22nd we will be giving rides to the Blind Campers.

Hog Chapter Membership 101

There are a few things taht MUST happen in order to join a ocal HOG chapter. THe first thing is that you must own a Harley Davidson motorcycle. (That's where the name "Harley Owners Group" comes from.) The second thing is that youmust belong to National HOG. If you are not a current National HOG member a simple telephone cll to 1-800-CLUBHOG will take care of the problem. You can also go to www.hog.com to find out everything that you need to know concerning memberhsip and benefits of being member. Beginning in July 2001 National HOG has made available to Primary Officers of local chapters the ability to check and see if a local member is a National HOG member. We have begun to do just that and have found that approximately 15% of our members are NOT National HOG members. Beginning in January 2002 we will check your National membership BEFORE we accept your local membership renewal. The rules for membership state that your local membership expires when you National expires.

West Penn HOG membership dues due in March or April 2002 and your National dues expire in June 2002, if you don't renew your National membership - your West Penn HOG membership is terminated with no refund of local dues.

So be prepared to sow your National HOG membership card when renewing your local membership in 2002!

A reminder....

Our last meeting at the North park Deckhouse will be Sept. 4. Anyone having dinner before the meeting, please do so in the meeting room. West Penn does have an assigned waitress to run for our food and drinks while we are using the room. Many members were unaware of this and have eaten in the main dining room or gone for their own drinks. Our designated waitress would appreciate the opportunity to serve us and make a few tips for the evening. She is there only for us, let's show her we appreciate it.

Thanks.
