Murphy on a therapy visit
"Murphy"
HR Gadabout's Endless Summer,TD SH WCX (1 MH leg)

Murphy came to us from Michele Andavall, of Gadabout Goldens.  He has been an absolute pleasure and a true companion.  He loves everyone and also enjoys the company of all dogs he meets.  He is particularly good at putting shy dogs and puppies at ease.  It is important to Murphy to be buddies with everyone.  He has a lot of confidence in himself, but is never dominant. He started his performance career in tracking, which he took to naturally at the age of 4 months.  By the age of 7 months he had obtained certification to take a tracking test.  He earned his tracking title at the age of one year, in Appamattox, VA.

Next he took up hunting tests, and soon found that this was a wonderful way to spend a day.  He passed 4 out of 5 Junior Hunting tests, even after developing epilepsy.  He then went on to UKC hunting tests, passing 4 straight intermediate tests to get his HR title at the age of 2. After being almost one year seizure free, we entered a Master Hunting test, which he almost completed, getting dropped on the last mark in the third series.  We then went back through the Senior Hunting program (AKC) and Murphy passed 4 straight tests to earn his Senior Hunter title at the age of 3.  In October of 2000 at the age of 4, Murphy got his first Master leg, one of 12 qualifying dogs in a 28 dog field.  He is now almost 2 years seizure free.

He has also obtained his Working Certificate, at the age of one, and his Working Certificate Excellent title at the age of 2.  Chris ran him at a Working Certificate test in April of 2000 (Chris' first hunt test) and he qualified Murphy!  These are hunting tests sponsored by the Golden Retriever club.

Murphy is a favorite at the Lake Park Nursing Home in Indian Trail, NC outside of Charlotte where he does "volunteer" work every two weeks.  He has passed his Therapy Dog testing for certification through TDI, Therapy Dog International.
