#Lightwave is a discussion forum channel for Newtek's Lightwave3D on the EFnet IRC network. Lightwave users in countries all over the world visit this channel at all hours of the day and night to babble megabytes of often pointless nonsense until they get bored and go away. But once in a while, SOMEONE would actually talk shop, which often results, through some unexplained reason, in their ISP forcibly disconnecting them. :o)
Because the #Lightwave channel takes strict stance against pirated software, the channel operators verify that all regular users on the channel are actual owners of the software. When the operators are satisfied that the user has passed the verification, test they are "validated" and the user gets a "+" on their nickname. The "@" beside a name means that the user is an OPerator.
Maybe this topic should have a FAQ page of its own.. just kidding!. ;-)
The #Lightwave channel absolutely refuses to help people who have pirated the Lightwave3D software and this means that only validated users may participate on the channel. This is a case where people are considered guilty unless proven innocent. Occasionally non-validated users are allowed on the channel, but usually if you are lurking on the channel for any length of time, you will be required to be validated or leave.
You will immediately be kicked or kick-banned out of #lightwave for:
Unless you can pass the verification test, you are not considered a verified owner of Lightwave3D.
Excuses like:
...usually get laughed at by the OPs, justifiably or not.
All of the above excuses have been made in the course of a year. In almost every case the user never came back to the channel with the manual, probably because they never had one.

Often people are connected to irc but are actually busy elsewhere, sleeping, working,
snickering behind your back or all of the above.
Sometimes they are typing responses to each other and it takes a little while.
Sometimes the IRC network is running slow and your responses are delayed as much as
several minutes, giving the appearance that no one is answering your questions. Sometimes
the network is cut off in your area and it eventually becomes a network split.
