Hi… Autumn is my favorite time of year, and Illinois is a great place to be right now. The weather is just perfect… chilly nights and nice, warm sunny days. The RV is off the road for the time being, but we did make one car trip from our daughter, Nanci's home in Illinois, near St. Louis, to Michigan, for a visit with my sister, her family & our aunt. We took advantage of the nice traveling weather to make several stops along the way to see some historic sites, which made the trip even more enjoyable. Another sister, Micki, lives in the St. Louis area with her family, and we've enjoyed spending several days with them.
The remainder of this month, so far, has been spent with our daughter, Nanci's family, playing with grandsons and getting some more projects out of the way. This morning, the 15th, Rexx, four years old, had his tonsils removed. Boy, have things changed since his mommy had hers taken out! In the 'olden days' she stayed in the hospital two nights. He was home within one hour of surgery! She was 'out of it' for hours & hours…. He was sitting on the couch reading his new books shortly after coming home. Must be new technologies in medicine…. I felt much better having him home where Nanna could watch him!
We're gearing up for our long-planned trip to Mazatlan during the first two weeks of November. Don't want to start thinking of packing just yet, but I am making a mental list of things I want to be sure to have on hand, and trying to imagine taking far fewer clothes this trip! Be sure to check out my Mazatlan pages and please read about our adventure on Isla de la Piedra (Stone Island) during our first trip to Mazatlan. We'll have something besides grandkids, axles, car trips and projects to report on next month, so you'll want to check back & read all about it, sometime by the end of November!
Tentative plans at this time are to be back on the road, pointed towards Spartanburg, SC sometime around the 22nd or 23rd. Will visit more family there for a few days before heading for Charleston, SC and following the coastal route to Savannah, Jacksonville, and turning west towards our intended destination for part of the winter, Bay St. Louis, MS, and New Orleans, LA. No set schedule, yet… as you've learned from following our 'trip-log'…. We make some tentative plans & then take things as they fall. Sure seems like others spend more time actually on the road than we do, but we are having fun, especially in places where there are grandkids & other important relatives to visit. Sight seeing will happen in its own time. Till next month, have a Happy Halloween….. Just don't get too scared or eat too much candy! :-) Lee
