• Steve, your new Powerkit is even better than PBS3, and that was really great. Powerkit is very, very fast, and the graphics give an excellent insight into what is happening with the different parameters. "Optimization" has had a rather bad press from various sections of the futures world, but your program really shows how that can be controlled - by establishing a zone of robust parameters giving good results. That is as far as most other programs will go. But you have really put the icing on the cake, by integrating filters into the testing. I have always believed this to be one of the most important factors in trading. But, up till now, this has been a process of laborious manual filtering. Powerkit is the only program I have seen with this feature, and I have looked at quite a number. Keep up the good work.

Dear Steve,
After two months of heavy tests I can say that POWERKIT is a really powerful trading system. I have just changed my trading strategies an made my first profitable trades.
In particular I like the idea of fitting the coefficients to the conditions of the market. I have noticed that in a trendy market bigger coefficients make the system work very well. For example, in an up trend market, an up coefficient of .5 and a down coefficient of 1.5 returns a lot of profitable trades.

I have noticed that in an up trend market an UP coefficient of .5 and a down coefficient of 1.5 returns nice profitable trades. In a downtrend market an up coefficient of 1.5 and a DOWN coefficient of .5 works very well.
In order to reduce the number of trades, I'm now trying to combine a trendline study with Powerkit's volatility bands. When I see in a chart an up trendline (better a long or medium term trendline) I set an UP coefficient between .5 and .75 an a DOWN coefficient between 1.5 and 1.

1. How long have you been using the product and what do you like most
about it?
I have been using the program for a long while, probably since about 1990.I have always found the program to be great, for the following reasons:
(a) It always was very, very fast. It is a no-nonsense program, that getsright down to business, does what it is designed to do, and gives you theresults.
(b) It does not require a fancy installation, and does not need anyreference to Support. I cannot imagine anyone who cannot get this runningstraight away. The only problems they could have would be with componentsof their hardware, or storage of data.
(c) Apparently some buyers get onto Support, asking how to obtain "the bestparameters", but this is like asking Support whether a Moving AverageCrossover system gives good results.
(d) Steve does not try to sell this as the "Holy Grail" - that does not
exist. But he does point out that the principle of Volatility Breakout is
the basis of a very large number of programs, sold for big sums of money.
Looking at system demos out there, Powerkit results are generally far more
robust.
(e) It is the sort of program that can fit into just about any tradingmethodology that you might want to use. I personally look at many, manydifferent types of system, and almost always, I finish up using Powerkit asthe trigger to get into a trade.
(f) Steve has now gone one stage further, using various indicators asfilters to trades. The use of Wilder's Volatility as a filter is very good.
(g) Steve has some very good advice for all traders in his System
Developers Manual. He puts his views in a very succinct manner, and they
are far more applicable to real live trading than many other publications.
(h) The Surface Chart technique is unique, as far as I am aware. I have not
come across any other program that has this. It gives a trader a very clear
visual picture of where groups of parameters support each other. Pictures
are better than numbers, to see relationships.
>2. Are there any features you would like to see added to the product?
One other feature I would like to see is an extension of his Portfolio
idea. Steve's Portfolio works on a backtesting basis, and is really great.
The idea of using a non-correlated portfolio to reduce drawdown and risk,
is very much lacking in emphasis in setting up trading systems. So I guess
I would like to see that developed, perhaps to the stage of permanently
having a Portfolio saved in the program, that will update itself according
to the latest data being used.
This would be good from the point of view of seeing how an idea progresses
on an actual daily basis, in real time. Seeing what has happened in the
past is good, but there is nothing like seeing what happens today and the
next day, and so on. This can be done now, but the system has to be set up
each day, as it is only in memory.
>3. What other technical analysis software do you use?
I use Advanced GET and Trading Recipes mostly, both of which are excellent.
>Let me know how you generally feel about the product and about it's

The product itself is an outstanding success, and should be owned by every
trader. If by success, you mean does it actually make profits, it certainly
will. Whether a particular trader will make money from it, depends very
much on that trader and whether he can stick with the system through the
inevitable drawdowns. Nothing is perfect, or Steve would own the Dow by now.

The more I use Powerkit, the more I find it to be an excellent product. Also, I enjoyed the recent review in stocks and commodities. I have been a long time user of your programs and have consistently made money over the years using the PBS approach for signaling entries and exits.

most significant up trends and out before the freefall.
You're using the program in the best possible way - to aid and expand with your own strategy and your own research.

Sometimes I just can not help myself to praise you for sharing PBS with
us non-programmers; it is doing so wonderfully well for the last few
weeks locked in step with the market.
Your PBS is extremely hot for March Spoos right now. Hardly a losing trade
since Thu 12/07/2000 (first day of being active) and till yesterday had made 18K
on long system and 28K with short system and we were short from 134860 on
Thursday and today would be good addition to the short equity (I used 20
commission and 350 slippage per round turn too).
I hope soon I will get tired of the game and just play golf and every evening
merely place orders for the next day. You have been extra kind and generous
to share PBS with the rest of us.

trading if there were no PBS. Just sharing your software with others is
something great. I have seen almost 80% of what is available. If I had not

• Very interested in your new PBS. I purchased the DOS version about a year
and a half ago. I liked it. Of all the trading software I've looked at and
also bought, PBS was the most impressive and appeared to be the most
practical & actually useful in trading. Also felt that the folks at PBS
(New High Co.?) were very honest and straight forward - that they were
actually interested in giving someone a worthwhile product and not a bunch
of hype and crap.
I studied the futures market for about 9 months, then decided that perhaps
I'd better sit back and think this out; consequently, I didn't do any
trading. Looked into other money making schemes (MLM, etc). Recently I
decided to get back to futures because it's something that really interests me.
Anyway, I would like to purchased the new Windows version.
