POETRY
You and I
I couldn't change your heart
You couldn't see my tears
I couldn't change your mind
You couldn't feel my fears
I wanted to see what tomorrow brings
You wanted to live in days gone by
I wanted to reach for the stars
You wanted to give up and just not try
I'm left here to wonder why
You hold the answers, but can't say
I'm left with only memories
You hold my heart to this very day
I see you, I turn and walk away
You see me, you don't say a word
I see you, I think of another day
You see me, you just wonder why
Our paths will cross again
We'll meet on shaky ground
Our hearts will be mended
We'll be homeward bound
All things past will be forgotten
Like an illusive dream in the night
The promises and hearts that were broken
Nothing but love now spoken
All things past will be forgotten
