My Little Brother
(Inspired by Wayne)

My little brother, was my best friend
Always together, way back then
Diggin' for worms, most of the day
A fishin' we were goin', we would say
We'd put 'em in a bucket, for awhile
Then pour 'em on the ground, all in a pile
We had no fear, of lizards and snakes
On rainy days, we'd make mud pies and cakes We'd climb that OLE apple tree, way up high
Eat green apples, and look at the sky
Barefoot we'd go, off to the creek
Salamanders and frogs, we did seek
We never got bitten, I'm glad to say
Mostly they all, just ran away
Winter would come, we'd play in the snow
We'd play so long, our noses would glow
Our favorite thing, a snowball fight
We'd throw them so hard, with all our might
We tried to build, a snowman or two
We were too little, to see it through
Those were the days, of youth so sweet
Running and playing, in our bare feet
My little brother, was my best friend
A brother forever, until the end

My Little Sister
(Inspired by Kathy)

My little sister, is such a pest
I can't get, a moments rest
She follows me around, all day long
Skipping and humming, a silly song
I try to run, and hide away
She seeks me out, and wants to play
All through the day, she is just there
My oh my, too much to bare
She's only four, with a cute little giggle
It doesn't matter, she likes to wriggle
How do I explain, I need some peace
All this attention, has to cease
Just a shadow, she has become
Right behind, chewing her gum
Blowing her bubbles, left and right
It popped in her face, Oh what a sight
I turned and looked, and there she was
I ask her why, she said cuz
We laughed so hard, we both fell down
My little sister, looked like a clown
It was at that moment, I came to see
Just how much, she meant to me
What would I do, if she were gone
Not much I guess, I'd be all alone

Granny

On a hot summers night, In the middle of June
A far away whippoorwill, singing a tune
Fireflies flying, around in the dark
Off in the distance, we hear a loud bark
Granny on the porch, in her rocking chair
My brother and I, Oh what a pair
She watched and she laughed,
as we caught our bugs
We ran to her, to give her some hugs
She looked at us, with love in her eyes
Nothing is better, than family ties
I have to run now, I see a toad
Hopping and jumping, going toward the road
We have to run fast, it can't go far
Granny so thoughtful, she brings us a jar
My brother gets there, long before me
Picks up the toad, with so much glee
We watch it awhile, as it looks through the glass
Waiting and hoping, for it's fear to pass
He looks at us, as if to say
Please set me free, So I too can play
We open the lid, it makes a slight sound
The toad so happy, jumps to the ground
It's growing late, now time for bed
Playtime over, and we've been fed
We go inside, and close the door
The sounds of the night, we hear no more
That last glass of water, we must get
Granny said yes, just don't get wet
Now there we are, all snug in our bed
With dreams of tomorrow, filling our head
Granny bends over, and gives us a kiss
The sandman comes, with dreams of pure bliss
