A village in the High Atlas Mtns. outside Marrakech.  You can see more pictures of Moroccan life by clicking here.
While my parents visited in April 2000, we dined at one of the kiosks in the Djmaa Fna.  I had the beef kabobs and my parents had the chicken tangine.  This is where some of the best food in Morocco can be found!
My parents pose for this picture oustide the Koutoubia Mosque.  The minaret stands tall in the city and is a beautiful site when lite-up at night and its red brick reflects the white lights.  This minaret is one of 3 built in the 12th century by the Almohads.  The matching minerats are in Rabat (Tour Hassan) and Seville, Spain (capped with a steeple-like structure and part of the cathedral).
In October 1998 the Eco-Challenge came to Morocco.  The finish was in Marrakech and I was lucky enough to see some contestants and attend an awards dinner.
You may recongize the man in the middle as Mark Burnett.  He is the creator of the
Eco-Challenge and Survivor!
