ALL OUT ALL THE TIME FOR THE "CLEM DOG"
August
24, 2006
8/23/06....Mike Clements doesn't like stop signs. He ran
through another one last night at the Common and
survived to talk about it, but just barely. Clemmie has
been coming on strong for the Bisons as of late and he
had 2 more hits in the Renegade 15-12 loss to FHWA last
night but it was Clemmie's daring baserunning that was
on full display. Clemmie tried scoring from second on a
sharply hit single and as he ran through the stop sign
and rounded third, it did not look good. But halfway
down the line, "The Clem Dog" found an extra burst of
speed and in a flash, the ball and a hard sliding
Clemmie arrived at the same time. The ball lost the
battle and Clemmie was safe but not before an exhausted
"Clem Dog" gave six layers of skin to the Renegade
cause.
BEAUDIN BREAKS BISON HR RECORD
August 20, 2006
Keith
Beaudin’s 2 homers against Highway
Structures last Friday night gave him 11 for
the year; breaking Vin Digilio’s single
season record of 9 set in 2004. Bags has
been red hot of late; blasting 8 homers over
the past 4 games including 4 in one game
versus Maintenance at the Common on July
25th. Beaudin has taken a particular liking
to the soft tosses of Maintenance’s Joe
Connolly as he has taken him deep 8 times
this season. Bags is also closing in on
three other Bison records (RBI, total bases
and extra basehits) all held by Digilio. He
is currently 5 RBI, 5 total bases and 4 XBH
shy of breaking those records.
RENEGADES STILL HAVE SHOT AT 2ND
August 20, 2006
Three losses and a tie in the first 5 games
all but ended any hopes the Bisons had of
finishing first, but 4 wins in the past 5
games coupled with a Highways slump have
given Loosian's Boys of Summer a shot at
second place. A win over FHWA on Tuesday
followed by another win over Highways this
Friday night will clinch second place for
the Bisons.
BISONS PLAY SPOILER
August
19, 2006
The
Bridge Rebels needed some help from the Renegades
and they received it on Friday night when the Bisons
defeated Highways 19-16 at the Common. With the
Bison win, Bridges can now clinch the regular season
title with a win in their final game against FHWA on
Tuesday August 29th at the Common.
"THE NAT" STIRS THE POT
August 11, 2006
For some
inexplicable reason, the Renegades appeared
to be rather flat during their game with
Bridges last Tuesday night at Smith. The
unusual Bison lethargy did not sit well with
living MSESL legend Al “The Nat” Miller. On
several occasions, Miller tried to keep
Loosian’s Boys of Summer fired up on the
bench even after Bridges built a 12-1 lead, but
it just didn’t seem to be working. So, “The
Nat,” being the team player that he is,
decided to try a different strategy. Miller
engaged the Bridge catcher in a rather
lively and at times heated exchange on
the proper way to field his position.
Miller's genius soon paid off as the Bisons
began to close the Bridge lead but in the
end their 7th inning rally would fall just
short.
BEAUDIN FEASTS ON MAINTENANCE
July 29, 2006
It appears as though Keith Beaudin has Joe
Connolly's number. Of the 10 regular season
homers that Bags has cranked for the
Renegades, 8 have been at the expense of
Connolly. Last Tuesday's 4-HR, 7RBI power
display came almost a year to the date of
Beaudin's last homer barrage which also came
against Maintenance last July 28th. At Smith
Field that night, Bags belted 3 HR while
going 5 for 5 and knocking in 7 runs.
Connolly and Maintenance will try their luck
against Bags and the Bisons again on August
15th at Smith Field.
9 HR NOT A TEAM RECORD;
BISONS BLASTED 11 IN '04
July 28, 2006
The 9 homers the Renegades blasted out of
the Common last Tuesday night was
still two short of the team record 11
established in 2004. On July 1, 2004, the
Renegades slammed 11 homers in just 6
innings on their way to a 38-16 drubbing of
Maintenance at Smith Field. Keith Beaudin's
4-HR game is a team record. John McInerney,
Vin Digilio, Adam Landry, Chuck Kostro and
Beaudin had all previously shared the record
of 3 homers in a single game.
JACKSON BACK WITH A BANG
July 27, 2006
It appears
as though Jamie Jackson benefited from his
hiatus from the Bisons. Jackson drilled the
fist pitch he saw in last Tuesday’s win over
Maintenance over the left field fence at the
Common. Jackson had an excellent night at
the plate going 4 for 5 with with an RBI and
2 runs scored. Another game like that and
Manager Loosian may be forced to put Jackson
back into his customary spot at the top of
the order.
RAIN WASHES QUICK START AWAY
July 22, 2006
Heavy rain ended a promising start for the
Renegades last night at the Common. The
Bisons took an early 5-0 lead after five
Renegade runners had crossed the plate
before an out was recorded in the bottom of
the first inning. But seconds after a Keith
Beaudin 3-run blast, the skies opened up and
the game had to be postponed. The game will
be made up at a later date.
CLEMMIE LISTED AS "PROBABLE"
July 21, 2006
Mike
Clements was officially listed as "probable"
for tonight's game at the Common after
getting clobbered in a nasty homeplate
collision in Tuesday night's 9-5 win over
FHWA at the Common. The "Clem Dog" tried to
block the plate on a close play at home and
was sent sprawling into the sun baked Common
dirt. A game Clemmie tried to stay in the
contest but an alert Manager Loosian, after
giving the "Clem Dog" a 10-count, pulled his
woozy catcher from the game. Clemmie was all
smiles later at Sweetwater claiming
the first couple of Buds had already
loosened up his battered knee.
FARM SYSTEM PRODUCING
July 19, 2006
Manager Loosian had to dig deep into the fertile
Bison farm system once again yesterday
afternoon in order to patch up his depleted
roster. Matt Norian, Lou Rabito and Brian
Duhamel were all summoned from Chattanooga
and all made solid contributions in last
night's 9-5 win over FHWA. Duhamel and
Rabito each had 2 hits while Matt Norian
went 1 for 3. Duhamel also played a flawless
second base for the Bisons. Rabito and
Norian have played for the Bisons in the
past but last night was Duhamel's Bison
debut. Rabito has been toiling with
Chattanooga since being sent down early in
the '04 season after having trouble finding
his stroke. Lets hope that last night was
more than just a cameo appearance for "Sweet
Lou."
CLOSE LOSSES FRUSTRATE BISONS
July 13, 2006
The bad news is that the Renegades have won
just one of their five games played to date
and are currently tied for last place with
Maintenance. The good news is that the
Bisons have lost their 3 games by a total of
just 4 runs while 7 games still
remain before the playoffs begin in mid
September. Manager Loosian did have a closed
door meeting with Chris White following last
night's loss and hinted at some lineup
changes for next Tuesday when the Renegades
face FHWA back at the Common.
CLEMENTS
SHINES AT SECOND
July 12, 2006
Perhaps it was the lime colored t-shirt that he shed
because "The Clem Dog" played his best game
in quite a while. Clements kept two
Renegade rallies alive with basehits and
made a couple of web gems at second base.
Clemmie also managed to turn the clock back to circa
1998 when he bellied up to the bar for some
lively post game analysis.
WHITEY:
"NO TIME TO PANIC"
July 12, 2006
While others were reaching for the panic
button, Renegade veteran Chris White, the
lone voice of reason, downplayed recent
Bison struggles. The calm and placid Whitey
instead blamed his recently acquired bats
and chalked it all up to a longer break-in
period than expected. Whitey, the new
Justice of the Renegade Kangaroo Court did
however say that he plans to deal with
certain no-shows rather harshly when they
return from parts unknown.
HAS
ANYONE SEEN THIS MAN?
July 12, 2006
Manager
Brett Loosian's heart is broken. Loosian's team is
struggling and he seems to be missing an outfielder.
Long time Renegade and former Besotted Bison winner
Jamie Jackson has gone missing and Loosian is
worried. Jackson, struggling at the plate and
perhaps worried that a trip to Chattanooga may be in
his future has appeared in just 2 games this season
and an appearance in the Bison Kangaroo court may be
awaiting him if he returns. Anyway, the Motor Pool
Renegade marketing department has placed Jackson's
photo on an official Motor Pool
Renegade milk carton with the hope that Jamie will
soon be found and safely returned so that he can
once again freely roam the outfield of Bison Nation.
MILLER
SHARP IN DEBUT
July 12, 2006
Al Miller was the tough luck loser last
night despite pitching well in his season
debut. "The Nat" said he tired in the later
innings when Bridges touched him up for 8
runs over the last 3 innings but some more
late inning shoddy defense by the Renegades
prohibited Miller from winning his season
debut.
DELEON FINALLY IN THE SHOW
June 21, 2006
After
weaving his way through the the Bisons highly
competitive farm system, highly touted prospect Ivan
Deleon finally made his Renegade debut. Deleon got
the call while in Chattanooga on Sunday and went 1
for 4 in his debut. Deleon appeared nervous under
the bright lights of the Common but later settled down
after collecting his first hit as a member of the Bisons.
CLEMMIE ARRIVES JUST IN LIME
June 21, 2006
The
Clem Dog, sporting a rather loud lime colored
t-shirt splattered with paint ball stains made his
'06 debut and had his usual night of adventure.
Clemmie made his dramatic entrance just as last
night's game was beginning with Highway Structures.
Clements took away a sure triple from Brett Loosian
when he failed to touch second base and then nearly
put Keith Beaudin on the 60 day DL when he slammed
into Bags while Bags was coaching third base. The
Clem Dog had trouble putting on the breaks after
picking up "steam" and clobbered Bags with a picture
perfect rolling block. The Bison Kangaroo Court
cited Clemmie after the game for dangerous base
running and uniform code violations.
LOOSIAN: NO JOB IS SAFE
May 12, 2006
Manager Loosian held his annual pre-season
press conference today and guaranteed that
this year's team will not rest on past
laurels. He went on to add that no one's job
is safe and that he will not hesitate to
make major moves if the Bisons get off to a
bad start. The subject of "Sweetwater Murph"
was brought up during the conference. When
Loosian was informed that Murph recently
announced his retirement for the 42nd time
he responded with a one word comment: Good!! Also appearing at the press
conference was past, present and future
legend Al "The Natural" Miller. Miller, now
entering his 37th year was surprisingly
lucid for much of the gabfest but
abruptly departed at the sight of a
Budweiser truck rambling down Boylston
street. Before his departure, however, "The
Nat" did recite some poetry while also
predicting the '06 season would be one of
his best on and off the field.
BISONS OPEN '06 SEASON MAY 16TH
April 24, 2006
The
Renegades will begin defense of their 2005
MSESL Championship on Tuesday May 16th vs.
Maintenance at Smith Field. In a bit of a
scheduling quirk, the two teams will meet
again one week later back at Smith. The
season once again calls for a 12-game
schedule with the first 4 games of the year
to be played at Smith Field. The Bisons will
make their '06 Common debut on Tuesday June
20th vs. Highway Structures. In all, the
Bisons will play 5 of their 12 scheduled
contests at the Common with the remaining 7
games all scheduled for Smith Field.
MAESTRO
ON THE MOUND
September 21, 2005
Inside,
outside, up and down, in and out and all around.
"The Nat" kept a solid Highway Structure lineup off
balance all game long last night further cementing his
reputation as a "big game" pitcher. "The Nat" was at
his best allowing just 3 runs as the Boys of Bison
won their 3rd title in 4 years at the Common. "The
Nat" was 4-0 during this year's playoffs allowing
just 8.30 runs per game. During the Bisons
3 title runs Miller is now a perfect 13-0.
RENEGADES
SEEK 3RD
TITLE IN 4 YEARS
September 16, 2005
The Renegades
and Highway Structures will renew their playoff
rivalry tonight at the Common in Game 1 of
the 2005 MSESL Finals. Both teams reached the finals
after sweeping their opponents in the semifinals.
The Renegades swept FHWA last week at the Common
while Structures completed a 2-game sweep of
defending champion Bridges last night. The two teams
have met in 5 previous playoff meetings with
Structures holding a 4-1 edge. The Renegades won 2
of the 3 meetings between the teams during the '05
regular season.
ANOTHER BISON-HS CLASSIC
August 13, 2005
Last night's Renegade 15-14 extra inning
win over Highway Structures was another great game
in a growing list of great games the two teams have
played during the past 8 seasons. The Motor Pool/Hwy
Structure rivalry began in 1998 when they met in the
league finals. Highways swept that series and
knocked the Renegades out of the playoffs in '99,
'00, and '01. The Renegades finally defeated
Highways in a playoff series when they swept them in
the 2003 semi finals. Last night's game had a
playoff atmosphere and was reminiscent of some of
those past playoff and regular season big games that
the two teams have played. Highways has struggled
this year and is now 3-7 and battling for a playoff
berth.
MEGAN ON
A TEAR
August 4, 2005
John
Megan is red hot and is having another outstanding
year for the Bisons. Megan hit for the cycle in last
night's 20-11 win over FHWA and is now hitting a
Brian Fallon like .864 (19-22) with 5 HR and 18 RBI.
Last night's performance raised Meeg's slugging
percentage to 1.864. Also having an outstanding year
at the plate is Chris White. Whitey is currently
hitting .675 and is tied with Megan for the team
lead with 18 RBI. Whitey leads the team with 27 hits
and last night picked up his first career win for
the Bisons with 7 strong innings.
MURPH: "I'LL SHAKE OFF THE RUST"
August 3, 2005
After the Bison win over FHWA, a
beleaguered Mgr. Loosian was asked to assess Bill
Murphy's performance. "He needs to improve on his
hitting, fielding, throwing and running, but other
than that I think he'll be just fine," said Loosian.
Loosian did go on to say that "Sweetwater" will
remain a Bison - for now. Lost in the debut of Bill
Murphy was Matt Norian's 2005 debut. Matt played
right field last night for the Bisons and went 2 for
4 at the plate with 2 RBI and 2 RS.
MURPH MAKES RENEGADE DEBUT
August 3, 2005
It was
an emotional day for the women of Chattanooga and
many were seen openly sobbing when news came that
the call they had long dreaded was finally made.
Bison manager Brett Loosian called Lookout skipper
Roger Norian early Thursday morning to summon the
veteran Murphy. Murph took the red eye out of
Chattanooga and landed at Logan around noon
whereupon he headed straight for the Common and took
150 ground balls and then had half as many beers at
Sweetwater before joining his new teammates later
that afternoon back at the Common. Murph was
expected to join the Renegades earlier in the season
but his rehab stint did not go quite as well as
planned while down south. Murph struggled mightily
at the plate, in the field and in the lockeroom
while with the Lookouts but Norian and Loosian
didn't have the heart to keep the long time and well
traveled MSESL veteran in the minors any longer. So
last night "Sweetwater Murph" finally made his
Renegade debut. The results early on did not look
promising. Murph started behind the plate and by the
4th inning the out of condition Murph was not only
struggling with the bat but appeared to be
experiencing a rather difficult time dealing with
the mid summer heat. After receiving some
nourishment from the team cooler he rebounded and
chipped in with his first Renegade hit; a 2-run
single in the sixth inning. With his debut last
night, Murph has now played with 3 MSESL teams after
previous stints with the T and Maintenance.
WHITEY
GETS THE WIN
August 3, 2005
Chris
White showed off his multi dimensional talents after
going the distance last night on the mound to pick
up his 1st career win. White pitched well while
often displaying a Tom Highland like arc. Whitey, a
former 1st round pick of the Bisons, credited much
of his success with the job of his new battery
mate Bill Murphy did behind the plate. "I don't know
why they kept this guy down so long," said Whitey.
"I may request that he be my personal catcher if I
pitch in the future," he added. Whitey was pressed
into service when it was learned prior to the game
that "The Natural" was placed on the Temporarily
Unable to Perform List.
NORIAN STAYING IN
NYC
July 7, 2005
With
manager Brett Loosian absent from the Bison lineup
for an unusual 2-game stretch, rumors have been
circulating that the Bison skipper has been in New
York City trying to pry former Renegade and Besotted
Bison winner Mike "Everett's Mind" Norian away
from the land of the "Evil Empire." Norian and
Loosian often had a love-hate relationship during
their years with the Renegades but it is believed
that Norian, who is struggling with a .182 batting
average would welcome a return to the Bisons. The
deal apparently fell apart when Norian demanded to
hit clean-up, wanted to co-host a post game show
with Tom Highland and requested free beers for
life from Sweetwater.
CLEMMIE, MILLER
BACK IN ACTION
June 24, 2005
Mike
Clements and Al "The Nat" Miller, two long time Bisons, were
both in the Renegade line up for the first time this season
during the Renegade 21-2 win over Maintenance on June
23rd at Smith Field. "The Nat" was his usual brilliant self allowing
just 2 runs over 5 innings while going 4 for 4 at the
plate with a RS and 2 RBI. Miller tired after 5 innings
and was replaced by lefty specialist John Megan who
pitched two scoreless innings. Miller blamed the fatigue
on a lack of late night Alleyway performances. Clemmie,
meanwhile,
rejoined the Bisons after a failed attempt at becoming a
replacement player for the Vancouver Canucks. The Clem
Dog left the tryout early after being informed that team
policy prohibited beer drinking between periods.
Clements looked sharp at the plate as he went 2 for 4
and after downing three quick beers after the game, is
now just 37 beers short of the magic 3,000 mark.
