View out of Goats Water.
20040306

A5, very messy pen sketch

View from the South End of Goat's Water which is near to the Old Man of Coniston (a large hill).

I drew this whilst on a Unversity Walking club walk. I could only stop for 20 minutes, otherwise people would start getting too cold; which is generally unpleasant for those of us who are human beings.

Goat's water itself had a sheet of ice over parts of it. There were a few bits of snow in places but nothing much.

A4, Oil pastel

A view towards the vague direction of Kentmere in the North East Lake District.

This was the bightest point of the day; after this it got wetter and clouder. Typical April weather and it appearantly rains 1 in 3 days on average in the Lakes...a good reason for all those tourists not to go there and urbanise the place.

English Lake District
A3, Oil pastel

I drew this picture from a photo I took on a walk to Fairfield.

I tried experiment drawing the scree on the ridge in the middle ground. In the foreground is a collection of exposed rocks and off in the distance to the left is Lake Coniston.
