So I discovered all those punk rock bands.
Buying everything on hype.
And that's when I bought my first guitar(Les Paul Junior Copy) from
Manny's in New York city.
( and still 22 years later Sex Pistols "Never Mind the Bollocks" remains the greatest record of all time)
I was realizing at the time that guitar was too complicated.
I wanted to be like Sid Vicious, so I went out and got a cheap Bass.
(a used $50.00 Dan Armstrong Bass) And learned how to play by
taking 2 speakers on the stereo, turning the balance towards the
left stereo speaker so all I listened to was Bass & Drums.
And would play for hours.
Along with the Ramones first record(self titled Ramones)
I was probably in 20 crappy bands until
I actually auditioned for the Ramones when Dee Dee left.
That was the first time I was playing with people that sounded good.
And believe it or not almost got the gig.
