Annual James D. Vaughan Festival
Some of the best-known gospel musicians in America appear in Lawrenceburg, TN in July every yeaar to honor the Father of Southern Gospel Music.
The annual James D. Vaughan Festival is held at the Crockett Theatre in downtown Lawrenceburg, TN.
The festival is held to benefit the James D. Vaughan Museum in Lawrenceburg. Vaughan is considered the founder of Southern Gospel Music.
The City of Lawrenceburg has been recognized by the Gospel Music Association, the state of Tennessee and the U.S. Congress as the "Birthplace of Southern Gospel Music".
Main Street Lawrenceburg and the Lawrenceburg Lions Club sponsor the event.
