Welcome Kin Kora Junior Chess Club is the home of Gladstone chess. Operating from a home in Kin Kora Drive, Gladstone, KKJCC have junior club nights on Fridays from 7pm to 9pm (exluding school holidays) and a once-a-month night for adults. Our MissionOur mission is to provide children of Gladstone and district with the opportunity to experience the highs and lows of chess and competition in general; to meet peers and make friends and to hopefully provide children with an opportunity to learn tactics and skills that can assist in their everyday endeavours. ProfileKin Kora Junior Chess Club has been operating under the direction of Darryl Kirby since 1997. Mr Kirby, a chess enthusiast himself, saw a need for a chess club in Gladstone that provided a fun and friendly atmosphere in a family-oriented environment for children. He opened the doors to his home to children and rapid growth in membership (from 57 in 1997 to 89 last year) led in 2000 to an extension on his home for the purpose of chess. The students of Kin Kora State School are not necessarily affiliated with Kin Kora Junior Chess Club. However, Mr Kirby conducts lessons for this school.
