I thought I would answer some questions about the site and/or the show based on comments that I have read or questions I have been asked.
Q - Do you work for SBS or Pizza?
A - Sadly, no. I am a fan who started this site in late 2000 as there was not much on the net about the show at the time.
Q - Have you got too much time on your hands?
A - I have exactly the same amount of time that everyone else has. I choose to spend some time doing this site.
Q - How do you do your episode guides?
A - Depending on if I am at home when the show is on, I watch the show at least once but mainly twice without typing anything to see what the show is about and what made me laugh. By the time I have watched the show for the second time, I basically know what I am going to write about. I also check the aus.tv newsgroup, Pauly's page on the official Pizza/SBS site and also the Fat Pizza chatroom to see what others thought as well. I then watch the show another time or two and write quotes, statistics and storylines down. So all in all, I may watch each episode a minimum of 2 times but at least 4 times. I aim to have the episode guide online in full on either Tuesday or Wednesday if everything is going well. This depends on how much there is to write about and also on my time restraints and when I first see the episode (which may not be until Tuesday on occasions).
Q - Where is Pizza filmed?
A - Most of the major locations are shown on the Real Fat Pizza pages.
Q - What is (insert cast member name here)'s phone number/email address?
A - Erk is not in a position to pass on this information even if he had it.
Q - What is (insert cast member name here) like in real life?
A - I have only briefly met some of the cast members and they were very accommodating of their fans while on public appearances etc. If you see a cast member at a show or a public appearance, go and say hi!
Q - Who is your favourite Pizza character?
A - It would be a toss up between Bobo and Pauly out of the regular cast members.
Q - Why set up the Fat Pizza Fan Group?
A - It allows Pizza fans to swap ideas etc in a manner where they can talk about Pizza friendly without having to worry about some of the crap that goes on in chatrooms and messageboards.
Q - What is your favourite episode?
A - From series 1, I'd say Crime Pizza. From series 2, I'd say New Pizza or Melbourne Pizza. There is not a lot between most episodes.
Q - What ringtone does Pauly use for his mobile?
A - I didn't know for a while but I do now. Check the Pauly's Ringtone page.
Q - How do you react when you see the mainstream media or viewers being critical of the show?
A - Everyone has the right to their opinion but they need to remember that it is a comedy and not a doco on pizza delivery or the industry. Pizza has never been about political correctness.
Q - What makes Pizza funny? I'm not laughing.
A - Pizza is a show which doesn't appeal to everyone. Some people's humour doesn't match that of the creators etc or those of fans. That's like saying that not everyone likes South Park, Seinfeld or The Simpsons. I've got a warped sense of humour so that explains a lot!
Q - Your reviews are very positive. Have you ever written anything bad about the show?
A - I was brought up under the old cliché "if you can't say anything nice, don't say it" and also "I'm a lover, not a fighter." However, there have been very few bad things to say about Pizza as the standard has been very consistent. I have only given one bad review of an episode and that was the final episode on series 1. Another thing to consider is that this is a fan site. If I was not a Pizza fan, I would not spend the amount of time I do reviewing episodes and doing this site. After all, this is a fan site! There is enough criticism of the show elsewhere and I do not add to it. And in case you are wondering, Bobo has not threatened me with Mr Chainsaw!
Q - Do cast members chat on your site?
A - There is now a chat room (see the top of the page for a link) but there are no plans at this stage for a cast chat. All of the regular cast are aware of this site and have visited. The official Fat Pizza Website does have live chat and cast members do chat on occasion. This usually occurs on Monday nights around 9.15pm Sydney time although there are no promises. From time to time, info on these chats may also appear on Pauly's page on the SBS Pizza site although the messages may not be on line for very long. If I find out in advance about a cast chat that is not on a Monday night, I place the info on the Fat Pizza Fan Group as well as on the front page of this site.
Q - Can you send me a video or a hat etc.
A - No. I am not in a position to send anyone Pizza videos.
