SE Peru with Lawrence Rubey

Larry (of Noel Kempff fame) is looking for fellow birders for an Oct 8-19, 2000 trip to the Madre de Dios River in SE Peru. From high altitude puna, to cloud forest, to 6 full days at a lowland rainforest lodge. This is a not-for-profit trip, but with all benefits of a full-priced tour (hired expert guide, logistics etc). Pantiacolla is a little known, relatively new lodge on the Madre de Dios. It is located at the cusp of the foothills and lowlands at 450 m, but with a ridge up to 1000m nearby. Boat access via Atalaya, just like for Manu Wildlife Center, but it is not as far. We have 6 full days planned at Pantiacolla.
We'll be using the same road as used on Manu trips, then boat from Atalaya. We are planning one night at Pillahuata (camping), then two nights at 1600m. Our guide will be the Canadian ornithologist Bennett Hennessey. Bennett lives in Bolivia and does guiding at times to supplement his income as a full-time ornithologist. He has an amazing knowledge of the SE Amazonian lowlands, especially bird song---probably one of the top five recordists of birds of the SE Amazon in the world currently active. He spends many months in the field each year.
