Hello, and welcome to my Anti-SoT page. In a shocking display of how much time I truly do have on my hands, and with a desire to prove that bad fantasy comes in many shapes and many forms, I have embarked on yet another Anti-series page, this time taking on the monsterously popular Sword of Truth series. But MK, you ask: Why subject yourself to the names and insults...the pain and persecution of the fans of this and other series? Well, of course I will answer this question in a moment. But before I get to that, I want to send all of the rabidly loyal fans of the Sword of Truth on their way. You guys shouldn't have to read what's coming:

Now that they are taken care of, let's talk plainly, one anti-SoT fan to another. The question remains: Why spend time working on a site like this? Why put up with all of the hate e-mail from 12 year olds and the author in question's mother? Well the answer is this. I'm sick and tired of spending a lot of not-so hard earned money on fantasy work that is, quite frankly, sub-par. The kind of book that isn't well-done at all, and after you read it you come to the sinking realization that the publishers and author achieved thier bottom line: pocketing your money. Now in any genre of fiction this problem occurs, but fantasy seems to have the worst examples of it. Funny coming from a genre that is supposedly based on the power of the imagination and the ability of humans to dream. The Sword of Truth promised great things in it's debut, but has sadly sunk to just such a level of watered-down plagerism and pot-boiler excellence. I'll get into this later, but for now, just know that I'm tired of investing in a lot of these books and encouraging the practice of lazy fantasy writing. And if I am the one that has to take the brunt of a lot of people's anger to make the genre a better one, then so be it.
the main disclaimer I want to make about this page is this: I respect everyone's opinion about whatever they enjoy, and I don't want any SoT fans to come away from this page thinking I think they are idiots. All this page is, is me expressing my views about a series I dislike, and having fun doing it. That said...

Notice I have omitted a comparison section, comparing the Sword of Truth to various other fantasy series, as I did with the Anti-WoT page. I didn't do one because quite frankly I don't feel there is a need to. Goodkind vs. Tolkien? Come on, I'd feel bad doing that. Despite the frothing at the mouth claims of his more loyal fans, this isn't brilliant literature, and I'm not even going to entertain the thought of putting it in the same category as the better fantasy works out there.
