Plate 9 Black Printings


In the original unrepaired state every stamp shows the "O" Flaw Stage 2.  Plate 9 saw extensive service and was destroyed
on 07 October 1843.  Plate 9 printings in red were produced long after printings in red from other plates were discontinued.
Below can be seen an example of the later priting in the contemporary shade of the period with an 1843 Numeral Maltese
Cross.  Plate 9 red printings are the most common of the red printings from the black plates. Guide lines and dots appear on many of the stamps and are useful in identifying numerous stamps from this plate.
