The Early Years
If you've never been to Singapore, its an island about the size of Vancouver, with about twice the population. Most people associate Singapore with its banking, finance, commerce sector and its port industry. Others think of a clean and lush modern city in the tropics. Yet others think of capital punishment, caning, compulsory military service and the chewing gum law. In each case, you would be absolutely right.
Childhood
Age 3
Anyone remember bell bottom pants and loud silk shirts with oversized collars and cuffs? In the 1970s, the following did not yet exist...computers, VCRs, fax machines, walkman, ABS brakes, power steering, CD players, the AIDs epidemic.
Growing up in the 70s. I don't remember too much about it now since I was only 8 when the 70s became the 80s. It was a very simple decade technology-wise. Transistor radios. Black and white TVs. Cars with no power steering, no power windows. People bought LPs and cassettes instead of CDs. Atari games were a great novelty. It was quite quaint when you think about it.
