High School In Singapore
High school runs for 4 years from age 13 to 16 and ends in an international exam adapted from the UK. Most students apply to be examined in 8 subjects usually English, Mandarin, English Literature, Math, Additional Math, Physics, Chemistry, Geography.
And The Music Plays On
Some people like the music of the 80s. It was the decade of resident hitmakers. If you like technopop, you'd probably listen to OMD, Erasure, Pet Shop Boys, Duran Duran, New Order, or Depeche Mode. If you like dance pop, you'd listen to MJ, Madonna, the Miami Sound Machine, A-ha, Bananarama, Rick Astley and (gag) Jason Donovan/Kylie Minogue. =) If you like rock, you'd listen to Chicago, Journey, Boston, Survivor, REO Speedwagon, Bruce Springsteen, the Police, Fleetwood Mac and a slew of look-sound-alikes. They of the leather look, spiky hair and permanent scowl. =) There was a certain innocence in their rebellion.
In Singapore, we finish high school at 16 and go into a 2-year junior college program that is essentially Grade 12 and first-year university here. The 80s had been a defining decade. The Wonder Years.
