This unidentified first sergeant is wearing a frock coat. A noncommissioned officer's sword is suspended from a shoulder belt, which is buckled by a cirular cross belt plate. A sword belt is worn over top of it, but no sash. He is wearing first sergeant chevrons on a uniform coat. The brass keeper on his kepi stands out, but no insignia are seen on it. Fair quanities of NCO swords were produced, but they were not commonly worn in the field.
