Bangladesh troops in Bosnia
Principal Staff Officer to the Bangladeshi Prime Minister, Major General M. Bhuiyan, has stated that the Bangladeshi troops attached to the UN Protection Force in Bosnia are "fine and performing their mandated duty". Bhuiyan denied reports that the Bangladeshi peacekeepers were targets for sniper fire, and emphasised that what appeared in the media was "far from the correct picture".

The article also noted that approximately 1,200 Bangladeshi peacekeepers were isolated at three bases in the Bihac area, with insufficient food supplies and a few armored vehicles.

Rose defends role of UN Force in Bosnia:
UN Force Commander in Bosnia Lietenant-General Sir Michael Rose has defended the role of UNPROFOR and stressed that he has no intention of stepping down before his term expires in January. Rose also said that he had no plans to evacuate UNPROFOR troops from Bihac. He criticised comments made by US Senator Robert Dole and said that he should visit the UN-protected enclaves next time he is in Bosnia.

Bangladesh says peacekeepers in Bihac are armed and safe:
Following a telephone conversation with the commander of the 1,200- strong Bangladeshi contingent in Bosnia, the Principal Staff Officer to the Bangladeshi Prime Minister, Major-General M.S.A. Bhuiyan, has said that the Bangladeshi peacekeepers isolated in Bihac are "fully armed and safe".
Bhuiyan stressed that Bangladesh had only agreed to dispatch troops to the UN Protection Force (UNPROFOR) after the UN provided the contingent with 51 armed personnel carriers, each fitted with two machine guns. Bhuiyan stated that reports in the media that the peacekeepers' rations were exhausted and only a quarter had rifles "did not represent fact".
