Sisterhood and Brotherhood

All religions have brotherhood and sisterhood as a most important principle. When we come together we can discover the beauty in each other as a response to the message of Love, Harmony and Beauty, and in so doing, attune ourselves to the Beauty of the Divine presence within our own hearts. Teachings on brotherhood and sisterhood and friendship are presented.

When we read the Scriptures of the great religions in this world, be it the Bible, or Kabala, or Koran, Gita or Buddhist Scriptures, in some form or other, in the manner best suited to the people to whom the religion was given, it was the same moral, the same symphony, it was the same music which was performed before them.

Were the great teachers of the world especially engaged in giving the mystical teachings to the world, or were they engaged in discussing philosophical problems? Not at all, If they did or gave anything, it was that simple philosophy which is never new to anyone. Even a child knows it: "Love one another, be kind, be sincere,"

And one might ask, "When it is a simple thing, and so simple that even a chid knows it, why is it necessary that the great ones, the Godly souls come to teach it?"

But that was not the principle thing they came to give. It is a most simple and yet most difficult thing to live. And we do not accept anything from someone who does not live it. Therefore the teachers came with the love from above to the world and lived that simple moral, that simple philosophy of brotherhood and sisterhood.

A Moghul emperor of Hindustan who was a great poet, Ghasnavi, writes, "Born in a palace, and having reigned from the first day that I came on earth, I saw nothing but thousands and thousands of people bowing before me. But the day in my life when I learned my first lesson of love, my proud head bowed and bent before every slave that I saw standing before me in attendance; and those who were standing before me as servants, I then felt that I was their slave."

What does this show?
It shows that coldness of heart hardens one’s feelings and closes one’s heart from the light which shows the path of sisterhood and brotherhood. There are many relations, and there are many connections in this world, by blood and by law also. But the great relationship is friendship.

What is the culmination of friendship? It is the culmination of friendship which is called Brotherhood and Sisterhood, which mean perfect friendship.
