INCENSE

In the incense recipes that follow, you will be using some liquid ingredients by the dram. Therefore I am including the handy conversion table below. This information comes from Charms, Spells & Formulas... by Ray T. Malbrough.

LIQUID CONVERSION CHART
one eighth fluid oz. = 1 dram = ½ tsp. plus one eigth tsp.
¼ fluid oz. = 2 drams = ½ tblsp.
½ fluid oz. = 3 drams = 1 tblsp.
¾ fluid oz. = 6 drams = 1 tblsp. plus ½ tsp.
1 fluid oz. = 8 oz. = 2 tblsp.

The incense recipes given are burned in the traditional method by placing the incense on a hot charcoal in an incense burner.

In mixing them, powder all the solid ingredients and mix them well with your mortar and pestle. Mix all the liquid ingredients and dissolve saltpeter in them. Slowly add the powdered ingredients. Spread in a tin pan or plastic container and allow to dry for thirty minutes to an hour. When dry, simple crumble up and you have your incense. Of course each incense needs to be charged with the appropriate energy before initial use.

In today's modern world many of us have carpal tunnel and other limitations that make it more difficult to grind very hard herbs etc. correctly into a powder. It is acceptable to use a coffee grinder to powder the harder herbs and then transfer the items to mortar and pestle to charge them with your energy before the finished product is made.
