This is a fine example of a Sessions Clock Company rectangular wall clock. Manufactured somewhere between 1900 and 1910, it features handpainted advertising for J.B. Crane Jeweler.
The clock case in is wonderful, unrestored condition and stands just over 3 feet tall. The movement, as seen on the right, is a simple 8-day movement that is also in fine condition showing little-to-no wear at the time of this photo.
Previous attempts to repair the clock had not been done properly so the clock sat idle for several years. The verge had been damaged and the click spring on the mainspring gear was broken. All were replaced and a good cleaning and lubrication brought it back to life.
The clock is displayed on the ground floor of the courthouse in Mt. Pleasant, IA on the south wall where it's loud tick-tock echoes throughout the building.
