The Ninth Life

Shan'ica SilverPheniox

7: The Rescue

Riddick saw Shane jump from the window, twisting herself in the air so that she wouldn't hit the other building head on. She almost seemed to fly, her body stretched out and he admired her for a moment. She really was beautiful. Then she hit. She had managed to tuck herself up into a ball and rolled, so he doubted that she had any major injuries. She hit the side of the other building and didn't move. Riddick had moved their stolen transport into the alley, so it didn't take him long to get her into the vehicle and take off. He drove for the better part of an hour, weaving in and out of traffic, and in a direction away from both the apartment building and the hotel where they were staying. Once he was sure that there was no one following them, Riddick pulled into a dark alley and turned the vehicle off. He grabbed a portable comm device and called Jack. As soon as she answered he told her to pack up their things, along with Shane's and go to the spaceport and book the three of them passage on the first ship to Dantan Six. The tone in his voice told her not to argue with him. She said she would meet him at the spaceport, then killed the link. Jack knew that Riddick meant for her to get them passage on a ship headed for Jassa Four. It was a little signal they had worked out in case they ever got separated and needed to get off planet fast.

Once he finished talking to Jack he turned to Shane. She was still unconscious. Not good. She probably had a concussion from hitting the wall. He gently began to run his fingers over her skull to make sure that it wasn't cracked. As he was doing so he noticed a strange bulge in her body suit. He looked at it for a moment, then carefully unzipped the body suit. He hesitated for a moment, then pushed the fabric away, revealing Shane's breasts. He stared at her for a moment, his thoughts of sex. Carefully he ran his hand over her body, smiling at the feel of her. She shifted a little and moaned. She was starting to wake up. Distracted from his study of her body, he returned to his original task. He found the bulge a little farther down, just to the side of her flat stomach (again sex flittered thru his mind). The bulge was being caused by a piece of jewellery, a diamond choker. 'No doubt this was what she had to acquire for her employer.' He thought. He tucked the choker into his pocket. Riddick smiled and ran his hand along Shane's body one more time, enjoying the sensation of her cool, dry skin beneath his fingers, then zipped up her body suit. They had to get the spaceport.

It took nearly an hour for them to get to the spaceport. By the time they arrived Shane had regained consciousness and had been briefed on the situation. She confirmed that the choker was the article she had been sent to retrieve.

"Apparently Mr. Klidox broke up with one of his mistresses and she wasn't too happy about it. In retaliation she stole the choker, which belongs to his wife. She has been traveling and is coming home this week. He wanted it back so that she wouldn't notice anything was amiss." Shane's face hardened as she continued. "It was an easy gig, no real challenge in it. I had the goods and was ready to leave. I turn around and standing there is that fucking perverted bastard Clands, Klidox's assistant." She clarified. "I take out one of his goons, but the other one grabs me. Clands, that sick fucker, starts rubbing me down, nice and slow. I disembowel the bastard holding me, then I make sure Clands will never forget me." She slashed the air with her hand, imitating what she had done to Clands' face. Riddick chuckled. "Not bad. He'll probably come after you for that." Shane shrugged. "Who cares? If he tries to touch me again I'll cut 'im into ribbons." She snarled. 'Assuming I don't get to him first.' Riddick thought.

They ditched their stolen transport and hurried inside the spaceport. They found Jack waiting not forty paces from the entrance. She handed the tickets to Riddick.

"I had to tell them that I was travelling with my brother and his wife." She said. "They don't have any sleeper ships headed to Jassa Four. Just cabin ships." She shrugged. "I figured that it was more important that we leave rather than worry what we leave on."

Riddick nodded. He didn't really care at this point, just so long as they could get off this fucking rock. Jack turned to Shane, who was leaning on Riddick. She was still a little woozy from the fall. "I kept a change of clothing out for you. I figured you would want to change." Shane smiled and accepted Jack's help to the washroom so she could change. The two returned a few minutes later, Shane looking much better. She had changed into a long purple dress and her sunglasses, and standing next to Jack the two looked like they were from a well to do family. Jack handed the shopping bag that she had been holding to Riddick wordlessly. Inside were a sports jacket, shirt, pants and a pair of sunglasses specially made to completely cover the eye area. Taking the hint, he went and changed. When he joined the women, he looked like a different man.

"Very nice." Shane purred. "Are the glasses okay? I wasn't sure if they'd work."

He nodded. It felt funny not to be wearing his goggles, but the glasses worked and helped him blend in more with the crowd.

"The ship leaves in fifteen minutes, docking port 67." Jack told the pair, then headed towards a snack shop, giving Riddick and Shane a few minutes alone.

"Here, this will help the look." Riddick held out the choker. Shane smiled and wordlessly turned her back to Riddick, pulling her hair out of the way. He fastened the choker around her neck for her, then stepped back to admire the look.

"We should get going if we want to make the ship, love." Shane purred. He smiled and offered her his arm.

"You're absolutely correct, darling. Right this way." And the two headed after Jack, who was waiting for them at the snack stand.
