Way back in time... (January 2003 to be precise!!) a collective of dj's, promoters, students, and music fans alike had
a dream. A dream that involved creating a single meeting place for all of Manchesters finest hip hop pioneers and lovers.
A one stop, information-megaplex of hip hop proportions. And so... GetDown was born...
Back to reality... GetDown was an online music magazine, catering for all aspects of Manchester Hip Hop with listings,
photos, reviews, mp3s etc..
GetDown also through parties... enter Disc Break!
Disc Break has seen many faces and one or two places since it came onto the scene back in January 2003 - guest dj's/bands
include:
Jon Kennedy (Grand Central Records)
Bamboo Soul
Spybase (C'Mon Feet)
Bambu DJ's
and with punters through the doors including the one and only Mr Scruff!!
After a year or so at the Font Bar - Disc Break decided it was time for a change of location and so it became a more
regular event, holding a monthly residency at the Northern Quarters own Simple Bar.
The monthly residency at Simple Bar was a chance for the resident DJ's 'Oldest Toddler' and 'DJ Mumble' to make a name
for themselves and to work on crafting their skills to create an exclusive party atmosphere.
Disc Break at Simple continues to this day, so check your calendar for the last Friday of the month!!!
