Gifts

  • Baby clothes for orphanage

  • Coloring books & crayons for orphanage

  • Marlboros carton (requested by agency)

  • Cognac (requested by agency)

Use red tissue paper and or gift bags to wrap after landing
 

For the baby:

  • Thermos for warm water (Grace didn’t need it but #2 might)

  • Size 2 diapers, Huggies Ultra thin

  • Texas Medical Kit (+ Benadryl, Tylenol, Nix, Hydr. peroxide, Anbesol)

  • Onesies – some small and some medium 

  • 4-5 outfits, some 6-9 month, some 9-12 month size

  • 3 sleepers

  • Jacket/sweater and hats

  • Blankets (2-3) –used one as play mat

  • Small toys, rattle, small board books, stacking cups

  • Teething ring, pacifier and clip

  • Socks, tights, shoes/slippers

  • Diaper bag w/toiletries for changing

  • Tons of wipes (unscented)

  • 2-3 washcloths & 2 burp cloths/diapers

  • Bathing stuff- baby soap, ducky

  • Feeding stuff: 3 cans of powdered formula (low iron, soy), stage 1 baby food (prunes for digestion), rice baby cereal, bowl for cereal, spoons, bottles, nipples (latex, silicone, Nuk & standard, a variety- who knows what she’s used to!), bibs, 1 sippy cup, measuring spoons, tongs (for nipples/bottles in boiling water), nipple and bottle brush

  • Snugli or baby sling

  • Ziplocs- gallon and small sizes, tons! (Great for poopy diapers in hotel room)

  • Baby Sunscreen

  • Antibacterial dish soap to wash bottles, etc.

  • Rubber disk to plug sink

  • Tupperware bowl for soaking or mixing (used Texas med Kit box)

  • 2 plastic quart bottles for boiled water (can put one in fridge to cool)

  • Stirrer/whisk for formula

  • Baby’s photo album (pictures of our families)

 

Other things to pack:

  • Snacks: Goldfish crackers, applesauce cups, granola bars, canned fruit, saltines

  • Camping plates and utensils for room service food

  • Insect repellant (didn’t use)

  • Little flashlight, Swiss Army Knife, Can Opener

  • Many packs of Kleenex (for bathroom breaks on the road and allergies)

  • Toilet paper

  • Anti-bacterial hand wipes (can use baby wipes instead)

  • Liquid soap for bathing

  • Playing cards

  • Instant coffee, creamer, sugar

  • Powdered Gatorade for dehydration (very useful)

  • Cough drops, cold medicine for us (didn’t need)

  • Journal/diary

  • Sanitary protection (gross but wouldn’t want to have to buy locally)

  • Tylenol PM

  • Neck pillow, ear plugs, eye cover (used only ear plugs on plane)

  • Mailing tube for art purchased

  • Adapter so can recharge camcorder

  • Latex gloves (didn’t use)

  • Camera, camcorder ( lots of tape and film)

  • Few paperback books (can leave behind once read)

  • Rubber bands, bungee cords, duct tape (tears in luggage and other uses)

  • Translation cards (ordered from Bob Crawford’s website)

  • Bandana (could double as burp cloth!)

  • Alarm clock

  • Small bottle of Dreft baby detergent to wash baby clothes

  • Credit cards and lots of cash (alert card companies you’ll be charging from China)

  • 2 copies of paperwork, extra copies of passports, photos (put in plastic Ziploc bag in case rains on us and pack them separately)


For Ana

  • 3 shorts

  • 1 pants, belt

  • 1 dress or skirt w/slip for adoption day

  • 5-6 t-shirts

  • 2 shoes (Birkenstocks and sneakers) & flat slippers for hotel, socks

  • Undies and bras

  • Toiletries, brush, glasses, extra contacts

  • Passport/money holders to carry cash under clothes

  • Light rainjacket (used once)
