Objectivism vs. Socialism
War of the Philosophies

Welcome to Pam and Courtney's webpage! We have designed this page to present the differences between the philosophies of Socialism and Objectivism.

___________
SOCIALISM

Socialism is the result of the ideas of Marx and Stalin, which were implemented for the first time in Eastern Europe in the early 20th century. The philosophy is embodied in "The Communist Manifesto" by Marx and Engels, and is still practiced today. Socialism is a global system based on common ownership, democratic control by all, production for use, and free access. The philosophy is based on equality of its members, and a totaltarian government.

OBJECTIVISM

Objectivism was first introduced to the world by philosopher/writer Ayn Rand. She began writing novels during the Depression and continued until the 1950's when she then devoted her life to Objectivism.
Her philosophy is rooted in that of Aristotle, and she used his rationality to defend the rights of the individual. Her work describes the evils of totaltarianism and lauds the ideals of capitalism.
She described Objectivism as "The concept of man as a heroic being, with his own happiness as the moral purpose of life, with productive achievement as his noblest activity, and reason as his only absolute."
