Every Horse is a Work of Art
Welcome to my page, where you can find samples of my
artwork. The drawings on this page may look fuzzier than they
really are, some more than others. If you are interested in
one, please email me. I do horse portraits, so I can draw
your horse if you like. I now also do custom stall signs for
only $25! Here's the one I made for my own horse:
Please email about anything your interested about by clicking
on the EMAIL button on the sidebar.
Please note that I put my utmost effort into any commissioned
drawing. Thus, not every sample on this page may equal
my commissioned work, and I just wanted to point that out. After
all, people's horses are very special to them (I know mine is),
and I want to portray just how special and unique they are.
I draw portraits in pen & ink, pencil, charcoal (and often a
mixture of the two), and colored pencil. I will make a suggestion
as to what would work best for your horse, if you are interested
in a custom portrait. For all my equine portraiture, I need one
good, in focus photo of the horse's head & neck, even for full-
body portraits. For full body portraits, I use a photo of the
horse doing what it will be doing in the portrait (though I could
add a little more impulsion to its step, or take away a halter,
if desired). A description of the horse, both physically and
personality-wise, is also very helpful. Drawings start at only $25;
click on PRICES on the sidebar to see prices!
I don't charge extra for background! I can put your horse
in anywhere from a traditional country scene to a surreal
atmosphere. Be as creative as you want, & I'll give you input
if you like.
Custom horse portraits make great gifts! Who wouldn't love
such a thoughtful token of appreciation? I strive to incorporate
each horse's individuality into its drawing, and to do this I try
to understand what makes the horse so special to its person.
This drawing was sold on eBay for an equine charity, HCF Horse
Rescue. It was done in ink.
This is a drawing of an inquisitive little foal, matted in a blue
and gold double matting.
This is a charcoal drawing of an Arabian horse in a native style bridle.
He is perhaps a battle worn warrior, or maybe a youthful colt, looking
over his shoulder after a long day's work. This was done in November 2000.
This drawing is a pen & ink that won first
place in the ink division at a county fair art contest.
It captures and Arabian, ears pricked and at attention.
This drawing is mixed media. I drew this in early spring 2000, and
painted the blue background.
I drew this colored pencil drawing in July 2000. I really like
bright cool colors, as this drawing shows!
This drawing was done in pencil, so it looks blurrier here than in
person. It displays a traditional tack room scene in a stable.
