Little is known about the time when the Murphy family migrated from Ireland to the United States. As of this time the starting point for this article will begin with the family of William Murphy.
William Murphy a son of John Fitspatrick Murphy (wife presently unknown) was born the year of 1843. He died in 1913 in Jersey County in Illinois. Services were held at St Francis Xavier Church and he is buried in St Francis Cemetery. William Murphy was married to Mary Long, who was born in 1846 and died in 1903.
Children born to William and Mary Murphy were:
- Andrew Murphy, b. 25 January 1889 in Jersey County, d. 13 March 1949, m. 25 November 1914 to Anna Alward
