The first time that I saw this photo, taken ca 1870, of my GG-Grandfather and GG-Grandmother was the summer of 1997. Our cousin from the State of Washington, Ruth Gibson Busch visited with family members and she shared this photo and others with us. It was very exciting to see the photos and we are happy to share them with our cousins. The portrait was taken in Munich, Germany. The family has always maintained that our Schneider ancestors cam from the Wurtenburg, Germany area. My mother mentioned the city of Stuttgart and looking at the map, it appears that they must have lived in that area. It is said that John Schneider had a sister that came to the United States, possibly before her brother John. Cousin Ruth, mentioned that John corresponded with his parents for several years after coming to the States.
