Here are just a few of the power players in the Sleepless Universe.
CATHOLIC SCHOOLGIRL AVENGERS Don't let their honor rolls and short skirts fool you. These eyeglass wearing mavens are as deadly as they come. Selected at birth to defend secret things, their secret headquarters are hidden in the belltower of the central church. It is from this locale that the heroines receive orders from the Pope himself, store their armoury of crimefighting equipment, and do geometry homework.

CROATHATOPIA The Nation of Croathatopia:
GOVERNMENT
Croathatopia is ruled by a brutal military dictatorship. At the top of its scrictly regimented chain of command sits their lord and charismatic leader known only as the Mighty Sphincter. The M.S. appears to its subjects as a video projection of a floating "face"; we speculate that the real leader may hide behind this facade, while others believe that the M.S. is not a human at all, but rather a computer artifical intelligence. The Mighty Sphincter can not be understood directly--its words must be translated by an interpreter/oracle.

CULTURE
Not much is known about the everyday people of Croathatopia, hidden as they are behind the "Scornityte Curtain." 
Croathatopian soldiers are fanatical in devotion to the military. Many wear armbands with the symbol of the Mighty Sphincter. 
 
LETHARGICO CARTEL Lethargico is the largest of the large scale operations going on underneath the underground in the Pacific Realm. Renowned for their shady dealings at incredibly low, low, prices, these shadowy merchants are relentless in their quest for the perfect bargain basement.

The agents of Lethargico don't just stoop to ridiculously low prices; they upscale every product they purchase, removing a piece here, adding a doodad there. It's a matter of streamline, and cutting out whatever seems irrelevant to the Lethargico employee/citizen. This kind of deconstruction and bastardization of product becomes hazardous to all when it's used on armament technology. The Science Police have suffered a great many casualties due to the confiscation of "modified" technology.

Beware the Cartel. They will stop at nothing to make the deal of a lifetime, even if it shortens a lifespan. 
 
PACIFIC REALM The Pacific Realm is the place where most Sleepless stories take place. The details of its features remain quite mysterious, however. Here's what we know about the Pacific Realm so far.

GEOGRAPHY
The Pacific Realm is has coastal regions on what we can only assume to be the Pacific Ocean, while other areas are forested or mountainous. There is at least one city where most of Sleepless takes place. The Pacific Realm shares a border with Schwaziland. In some places along the border, mountains or cliffs form a natural barrier. The climate seems to be mild and subtropical.

GOVENMENT
The Pacific Realm is a deomcratic republic. The current President is Porcelana Bengala who was elected with Vice President Shunt.
A mysterious governmental agency known only as the DLG looks after the Pacific Realm's international interests through assassinations and counter-terrorist actions. No one knows what the letters "DLG" stand for; it is not to be confused with The Darklight Group, which is an entirely unrelated entity. Or is it?

CULTURE
The Pacific Realm is a "melting pot" for people from many lands.
