Holy Ranger Lyrics

The Letter
Words and Music Copyright 2007 by Martin Jack Rosenblum

Recording History And Notes:
“The Letter” appears as the fifth track on the album entitled “Ice Thorn: Singles {Collection}” by Martin Jack’s Werewolf Sequence. It was recorded live with two guitars and a processed violin. The instrumental prior to the last verse, a repeat of the first, was entirely improvisational as was all of the music based on the lyrical flow. Martin Jack Rosenblum is the vocalist and plays a highly modified 1982 Fender Stratocaster guitar.
It is the same guitar that, for example, is used on the song “Standing On The Gallows” from the 2006 album “Omen Dirt (Low-5)” recorded by Martin Jack with The Last Canyon Band – there is unusual echo in these custom pickups and an entirely mechanical but acoustically resonant tremolo system installed.

Jackrabbits in the hayloft,
Spiders on the lawn;
There’s been nothing but trouble,
Ever since dawn:
--Jackrabbits in the hayloft/spiders on the lawn….
Tell me,
Where I am since you’ve been gone.

I went off to the station,
The train was running slow;
The coachman handed me a letter,
There was lightning and snow:
--I went off to the station/the train was running slow….
Tell me,
Where I am since you’ve been gone.

You really disappoint me,
With your jewels jazz and junk;
You got more pills than a drugstore,
In your snakeskin trunk:
--You really disappoint me/with your jewels jazz and junk….
Tell me,
Where I am since you’ve been gone.

Jackrabbits in the hayloft,
Spiders on the lawn;
There’s been nothing but trouble,
Ever since dawn:
--Jackrabbits in the hayloft/spiders on the lawn….
Tell me,
Where I am since you’ve been gone.
