The Big Case

In one of Batman and Robin's most dangerous and mystifying cases, the Dynamic Duo were up against the dastardly deeds of four of Gotham City's foulest villains: Joker, Riddler, Penguin and Catwoman. Faced with such overwhelming odds, the Caped Crusaders needed a new arsenal of crime-fighting tools and vehicles, including the Batboat, Batcopter, and Batcycle, which were subsequently used in other adventures.

What follows is a detailing of the various exciting elements of Batman and Robin's greatest adventure.

The Case

Batman and Robin are lured into a trap with a holographic ocean liner by Joker, Penguin, Catwoman, and Riddler. The villainous foursome have kidnapped Commodore Schmidlapp and his dehydrating device from the real vessel. Their next order of business is to kill Batman, and they kidnap Bruce Wayne to use as bait for another trap. After he escapes, Batman and Robin track Penguin to the United World building, where they are too late to save the Security Council from being dehydrated into dust piles and collected for ransom by the supervillain group. But they give chase in the Batboat, and confront the band of criminals on the deck of the Penguin Sub. The recovery of the dust piles does not go well, and the future of the free world is endangered. As always, the Caped Crusaders work long and hard, and are able to restore the Security Council, their only reward the sense of pride they feel in their hearts.

Memorable Quotes

Comrade Kitka Alestov: "But your so curious costumes..."
Robin: "Don't be put off by them, Ma'am. Under this garb we're perfectly ordinary Americans."

Gordon: "Batman and Robin are fully deputized agents of the law."
Robin: "Support your police! That's our message."

Gordon: "A thought strikes me. So dreadful I scarcely dare give it utterance."

Batman: "Salt and corrosion. The infamous old enemies of the crimefighter. No prints here."

Robin: "Gosh, Batman. The nobility of the almost-human porpoise."
Batman: "True, Robin. It was noble of that animal to hurl himself into the path of that final torpedo. He gave his life for ours."

Admiral Fangschliester: "Avast and belay, Batman, your tone sounds rather grim. We haven't done anything foolish, have we?"
Batman: "Disposing of pre-atomic submarines to persons who don't even leave their full addresses? Good day, Admiral."

Gordon: "Penguin, Joker, Riddler, and Catwoman too! The sum of the angles of that rectangle is too monstrous to contemplate."

Comrade Kitka: "Is there not a bourgeouis criminal cad in this country called the Riddler, who preys upon the workers of America?"
Bruce: "Your jargon is quaint, Miss Kitka."

Robin, analyzing clues: "Banana. Russian. I've got it! Someone Russian is gonna slip on a banana peel and break their neck!"
Batman: "Precisely, Robin. The only possible meaning."

Batman: "Tonight Bruce Wayne will go out on the town with Miss Kitka."
Alfred: "A not displeasing chore, Sir."
Batman: "Indeed, Alfred. I've rarely met a girl who's such a potent argument in favor of international relations."

Robin: "And if the Riddler tries to make good on his filthy threat?"
Batman: "I'll bash him brutally."

Bruce: "Of what use is a dream if not a blueprint for courageous action?"

Alfred: "Bless my dustpan!"

Bruce to Miss Kitka: "This nasty soup we're in is largely my own brew."

Robin: "It's amazing someone hasn't already reported this place to the police."
Batman: "It's a low neighborhood, full of rumpots. They're used to curious sights, which they attribute to alcoholic delusions."
Robin: "Gosh, drink is sure a filthy thing, isn't it? I'd rather be dead than unable to trust my own eyes."

Robin: "You risked your life to save that riffraff in the bar?"
Batman: "They may be drinkers, Robin, but they're also human beings, and may be salvaged."

Batman: "Your fingerprints will settle this hash, Penguin."

Robin: "Are you sure you didn't hurt your head in that fight, Batman?"

Robin: "Let's commandeer a taxi."
Batman: "No, Robin. Not at this time of day."

    Traps and Escapes

Batman and Robin are called in to investigate a kidnapping on a ship at sea, and make their way out in the Batcopter. Batman climbs down the Bat-ladder to get to the deck of the ship, but as he is descending, the boat disappears. He calls for Robin to lift him up out of the water, but a shark has attached itself to the ladder. Batman pummels the shark to no avail, and yells for Robin to bring him the Shark Repellent Bat Spray. Robin deftly climbs down the ladder, and after a healthy dose of repellent, the shark falls to the water and explodes!

Batman and Robin check for fingerprints on an illegal buoy, unaware that the villains are watching them from the Penguin Sub. The Remote Control Penguin Magnet is activated, locking the Dynamic Duo in place on the buoy. Three torpedoes are launched at them from the Penguin Sub. Batman is able to cause the first two to explode prematurely using his Utility Belt Transmitter, but its batteries then die out. Luckily, a nearby porpoise selflessly throws itself into the torpedo's path, giving the Caped Crusaders the chance to fight on.

Batman and Robin arrive at the secret headquarters of Underworld United, but find only a large bomb ready to explode. Batman sends Robin away, then gets the bomb and carries it outside. He desperately tries to ditch the bomb, but finds babies, nuns, or ducklings everywhere he goes. After running all over the docks, he finally finds a clear spot of water, and throws the bomb in the nick of time.
