Keep your letters short. One page is best.

Talk about only one topic in your letter. Use your own words if you can.

Don't exaggerate. Be reasonable, factual and friendly.

Give reasons for your position - don't threaten.

Do not assume that your legislator is well informed.

Enclose a reprint on the subject, if you have one.

Refer to a bill or resolution by number.

Ask them to respond.

Thank them when they vote properly.

Your letter does no have to be perfect, but it shoudl be neat.

If possible, keep copies of your letter and their response. It may be useful later.
