The basic premise behind seaFire ASV is that the Macronesian Confederation gained in power in the years 2033 thru to 2041, despite the best efforts of the UEO and seaQuest. In 2034, the Macronesian Alliance absorbed the powerful Far Eastern Confederation to, for the first time, truly challenge the UEO as a global power. With the seaQuest design now over 30 years old, the UEO secretly commissioned her replacement class, the much larger and more ambitious seaFire class. A submarine that they hoped would reestablish the UEO's dominance in the Pacific. Five ships were planned in the class, however, construction was delayed by bitter in fighting and corruption within the UEO. Only three subs were eventually given the go ahead to be completed, the seaFire, Rubicon, and Vesuvius. President Bourne and the Macronesian Alliance were meanwhile allowed to gain more and more power and influence throughout the western Pacific. As they plundered undersea colonies and willfully violated international law construction continued on the seaFire class.

With time the Macronesian Alliance became more bold in its expansionist plans across the Pacific. It invaded and annexed the neutral undersea colony of Aquaropolis 7, home to over 250 000 undersea residents. The invasion saw the murder of over 2000 civilians on Aquaropolis 7. There was a media outcry, the UEO denounced President Bourne and his regime, but did not intervene.

The year 2041 saw the completion of the first, and as was to be the only, two submarines in the seaFire class. SeaFire and Rubicon were launched with much fanfare, though they were sailing into troubled waters for the UEO.

With escalated conflicts across UEO-Macronesian borders, and constant incursions by Macronesian forces the tension in the Pacific reached breaking point. The seaFire's Captain, Julius Verne, discussed with Secretary General McGath his fear that Macronesia was planning an all out attack on the UEO stronghold of Pearl Harbor. The UEO, financially and politically crippled by member infighting and fallout, signed a hasty understanding for Peace with President Bourne and Macronesia.

Verne's gutt was accurate and the freeworld was plunged into a battle for it's right to be sovereign.  The U.E.O gained the upper hand and a peace treaty was negotiated.

The year 2043 saw an end to peace.   An unknown threat begged the intervention of the seaFire, Rubicon and seaQuest.   The U.E.O under Presidential order refitted the old war-torn ships and recommissioned them.  Now the only thing which stands between freedom and slavery are the U.E.O.'s seaFire, Rubicon and seaQuest.
