Old Abbey with hole in its wall

“Damage to the Old Abbey”

The above picture is a picture of the 'Old Abbey' at Fenagh. It is one of two abbeys, the other abbey which was built by St. Caillin, is known locally as the 'New Abbey'. Little is known about the origins of the 'Old Abbey'. Local legend has it that the damage to the wall (the hole in the wall in the above picture) was caused by a cannonball fired by either the French or the English.
