ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering is situated in picturesque campus of University of Mysore, in the western part of the gorgeous city of Mysore. Being one of the latest engineering discipline to be started by this college, Department of Polymer Science and Technology ( started in 1987 ) has the academic programs designed to cover the areas of plastics and rubbers. This is the only college in Karnataka offering a four year B.E in Polymer Science and Technology. The faculty have been handling several projects to aid R&D. The department is also rendering consultancy services to many industries and organizations. As a part of their final year B.E degree, the students carry out their project work at various institutions/ industries like HAL, NAL, IISc (Bangalore), NCL (Pune), CLRI (Chennai), IICT (Hyderabad), VSSC (Thiruvanantapuram), Vikrant Tyres, Falcon Tyres, CIPET, CFTRI, DFRL, WIPRO, Raman Fibre Products (Mysore), just to name a few.

The department has adequate laboratory facilities to train students in the areas of synthesis, analysis, processing, design and testing of polymers. Advanced instrumentation facility provides the state-of-the-art testing and characterization facilities for the students and researchers.
