I just thought i'd
lend my support to the campaign to return po5 to our
screens.
I see there has been alot of debate regarding the quality
and context of the programme, but this is irrelevant.
After a number of seasons, channel 4 should now be
committed to screening this show until its climax. If
viewing figures have dropped dramatically and it no
longer warrents the 6pm slot, then it should be moved but
not scrapped.
Although I am not the biggest fan of this show, what has
upset me the most is Channel 4 total disregard of its
viewers.

Am I imagining
things or are Party of Five threads being deleted from
this forum by C4? There were for instance messages
regarding 'Trouble' picking up the show from C4 that seem
to have dissapeared. Are there too many pro P05 messages
for C4's liking? We still wait for an explanation from
the C4 'Gods' as to why such a popular show was dropped.

I am a big fan of
channel 4 of all the options on terestrial TV, they show
the best programs, they also have excellent traillers for
programs and very good voice overs. All round it is my
favourite channel. But this image is ripped apart when I
read all these viewers messages and see that they are
quite obviously putting on a front, they don't care about
their viewers or our opinions, if they did they would
have returned the very execellent Party of Five back to
its regular slot after only half of the above messages,
if not less.
Why take such an appreciated, very popular and very
sucessful show off the TV???????? Because they don't give
a damn.
I say boycott channel 4 until they return POF to
rightfull status, then they'll listen!

my mum and I taped
the last ten of last series, when I went home, to
Norfolk; which is 350 miles away, we sat and watched them
in one glorious binge.
How could you deprive us of this family bonding

hell!!!

My little boy doesn`t mean those terrible things he just

breaking up family life in this way and I hope all your
ratings drop down through the floor and beyond.

I only came onto the C4 website to find out when the next
series was going to start and am distraught to learn its
been axed. It's the only programme I ever left work on
time for!! Surely there are enough messages by now in
support that this decision will be reconsidered PLEASE!!!
I would agree that C4 is seriously out of touch.

Party of five is the most demanded show on this forum and
yet you are doing nothing about it. And this really gets
on my nerves, 'bout a month ago, i noticed a small band
of Ellen fans complaining to Ch4 about the when the new
series is coming back, and now it's back on air! There
are 10x more Po5 fans posting than Ellen fans, i mean
what the f**k is wrong with you?

Surely Channel 4 must realise that the continued
appearance of this thread indicates a significant want
for this program to return or at least a decent
explanation as to why it was axed. Notice they are
prepared to reply to the easy questions like why ER was
moved (get PDC and who cares anyway) so come on put your
Reach 4 details where your mouth is and explain.

Have you seen the
TWO! C4 (identical and non explanatory) replies to the
question of when the new series of P05 is back on air,
further down these threads? Well we know by now it's a
negative response from C4 confirming a broken promise
made at the end of last season. The replies at least
confirm someone does exist at the C4 end of this forum.
I'll ask yet again for C4 to treat it's viewers with a
bit of respect and at least tell us the reason for
dropping it. Every fan, please keep writing to
alternative channels to pick up P05.

That the 5th series
of Po5 will not be screened by Channel 4 seems insane!
Following a couple of years in which two of the show's
pivotal actresses (Jennifer Love Hewitt & Neve
Campbell, not to mention Lacey Chabert in "Lost in
Space") have been thrust into the worldwide
limelight it would, in my opinion, be a stupendously easy
show to promote. Why are Channel 4 not taking advantage
of this massive success? The show is popular with many of
my friends. The only reason I can see for the show's UK
failure is the time it has been shown. 6:00pm on a
Wednesday is never going to attract high viewing figures.
This aside, the show has never really been pushed by
Channel 4, not in the same way that similarly successful
US dramas such as E.R. and Friends have been.
Considering the line up of popular actors in Party of
Five, what makes this any different from these other
shows? I'd REALLY like to know.

I just cannot
believe that we wont be seeing the rest of this amazing
show. I felt sick to my stomach when I read that. I guess
we won't be seeing the Sarah spin off either. I totally
agree with Simon with the fact that now the shows stars
are huge independantly of the show it would be a sinch to
promote. You cannot pull a show so far into its run and
leave us hanging. I have EVERY episode on tape and I
can't fathom why C4 is doing this to the fans. C4 used to
be the best channel. Now it should be boycotted until it
shows some humanity. P.O.5 has been the most rewarding
show ever produced and it's a true crime to keep
audiences from it. For Christ's sake the show won awards,
give it and it's devoted fans the respect it deserves. If
it's more ratings you need then hype the fith season, use
sexuality if you have too, there's guys out there who'd
watch anything with Neve and Love in it. But please,
please reconsider. You spent money on the one season
wonder that is Ally McBeal. AND you repeated it? Get a
grip. Nobody watches season two of Ally McBeal in the
states but P.O.5 gets more viewers every season and the
show just grows and grows. All I really need to say is
that C4, what happened to you? What happened to friday
nights? What happened to weekdays at six? I though I
could depend on you for true intellegent programming, now
you've sunk to the lows of ITV and man that's low.

Bring back the best
programme ever to grace the screens of channel 4 - Party
of Five. It is such an easy-to-watch programme, with
clever and addictive storylines. Does channel 4 really
want everyone to switch over to Sky ? Well, without Po5,
you have lost the only programme which you had which Sky
could not compete with.
What's happened to
Channel 4? Dawson's Creek is the epitome of a Channel
destined for the tip.

"Once upon a
time..." Channel 4 was the peoples' channel. It
didn't submit to the ratings wars that embroiled the
likes of ITV and BBC. It showed the programmes that
people cared about and didn't give two hoots (I'd use
stronger language but this message would get rejected)
about whether or not they caused controversy. Party of
Five was one of those shows. It was one of the first
shows to deal artistically with such issues as alcoholism
and teenage marriage. OK, so some of the storylines were
a bit tacky; personally I didn't care... at least they
were entertaining while touching at the same time.
Somewhere on this web site I read that Channel 4 aimed to
show programmes that catered for tastes and opinions not
catered for by ITV or the BBC. Once upon a time I would
have said that Channel 4 lived up to that ideal. Sadly,
the borders have been blurred greatly of late. The axing
of "Party of Five" is a prime example of this
blurring in action.
Today I had the unfortunate experience of watching the
replacement drama: "Dawson's Creek". If I'd had
a bucket nearby I swear I would have thrown up into it.
This show endeavors to emulate "Party of Five"
in its analysis of teenage problems and dilemmas but
fails miserably. I almost cried as I watched the pitying
cuts between several teenage girls talking
"openheartedly" to some journalist about the
problems in their lives. PLEASE!!!! Give me a break!!!
The scene couldn't have been more corny if they'd tried!
I think that sympathy was the mood they were trying to
induce. Sadly, the only thing they induced in me was
regurgitated food.
As for the titular "Dawson", his closing
conversation with his estranged father was so far from
reality I might as well have been watching the X-files!
At least I can rest assured that the BBC doesn't make the
mistake of axing show as successful as that.
I remember a time when I could have the same confidence
in Channel 4. But, sadly, that was "Once upon a
time..."
C4 American Imports
Policy
posted by Hal on

The absence of Po5
may be attributable to C4's recent policy towards buying
imported shows. Apart from thier major deal with Warner
Bros which secures stuff like Dawsons's Creek, Freinds
& ER, there is very little money left for other shows
- that's why over the last couple of years there have
been gradually fewer US shows, in favour of more domestic
shows (which is now getting the bulk of progamme
funding). Yet I personally am perplexed by C4 giving
quality things like Po5 the elbow, yet still stumping up
the cash for crap like all those Saved By The Bell type
shows!
