The original line up for Heatstroke 2006 was thrown out when the wrestlers from Clinton had car trouble and were not able to make the show. Instead, we did Super D Cup II with zero fan favorites participating. The rules for this tournament were a little unique, as all matches were contested in 5 minute Iron Man matches. There were no DQs or countouts. A pinfall or submission earned you two points, and a loss took away one point. Here are the results:
Match #1: Alpha vs. Radiant Rex Rogers
1st Fall: Alpha by pinfall with a spear.
2nd Fall: Rex by pinfall with the Makeover.
3rd Fall: Rex by pinfall with a schoolboy.
4th Fall: Rex by pinfall after a 2nd rope elbow drop.
5th Fall: Rex by pinfall with a splash.
6th Fall: Rex by pinfall with falling knee smash from the 2nd rope.

Match #2: Gumbo Boy vs. Dracon
1st Fall: Dracon by pinfall with a northern lights suplex.
2nd Fall: Gumbo Boy by pinfall with a fisherman's suplex.
3rd Fall: Dracon by pinfall with the Side Effect.
4th Fall: Gumbo Boy by submission with the Cajun Crossface.

2nd Fall: Alpha by pinfall when both he and Gumbo Boy covered Dracon at the same time.
3rd Fall: Dracon by pinfall with the Side Effect off the 2nd rope.

A few notes and thoughts on the show
With as few resources as they had, NPW did as much as they could to deliver an entertaining Super D Cup II. It would've been nice if a fan favorite was in the tournament, but there were still some good laughs and some ok wrestling.
It's kinda funny that the only match that remotely constituted a main event, Dracon vs. Gumbo Boy, went on 2nd.
On the tape of the show, I announced that Alpha had -7 points at the end. After further review, I noticed he really had -6. Big difference, I know.
It was interesting how Rex Rogers looked as if he was going to run away with the crown at the beginning, only for Dracon to slowly creep his way back to victory.
You have to wonder how Alpha tricking Dracon into thinking he would lay down for him at the beginning of their match and Dracon laying a beating on Alpha afterward will affect their relationship going into their match against Wayne Shocker for the Unified Hardcore Championship at Shitfest.
